In this video, i construct a replica of the iron mask from the 1977 movie The Man in The Iron mask.
It is made from flat barstock and sheet steel and features a "rough from the forge" aesthetic.

I had not heard of any of these movies until watching this. Shortly after seeing this video, I went and watched the 1939 movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love the design of the mask, like he said, it reminds me of metropolis. I think it would be cool to get a replica mask myself.

Excellent execution as usual! The tighter fitting mask would be hellish at first, but I think a person would get used to it, like a balaclava, but having this loose fitting thing rattling around locked on your head would drive a person more insane. The looseness giving half a sense it could be removed, the constant knocking about if you moved, treating your skull like a bell clapper… this may be the more fiendish version.

The 1930s mask resembles the mask from the "V for Vendetta" movie. Thak quoteable quote: "...people in the middle ages were primarily dicks..." What a great opening line for a history prof. Great sheet metal work Robb. Always enjoy watching you work.
