At some point we will all be one of these 3 characters. The dad who forgives and welcomes, the brother who forgives and drops the ego, or the prodigal who needs to humble and come home.
@sadiemoreno40755 жыл бұрын
The brother who decided to forgive he didnt have ego . He knew what was the right thing to do and what was required of him to do and if he knew this then why didn't the other know how to do this ?.The younger brother was selfish and egotistical with no shame.

There are the angels who remain with God, at his side, serving with obedience. The prodigal son is lucifer, who is the angels frustrated with God and leave to do it better themselves, eventually realizing the way is with God and return home, becoming the Christ after reuniting with God and eventually becoming one with him, becoming one with the creator. Then as God, we watch as our children go through the same cycle and reuniting with us, and at that point in our evolution, when our children become us, the father, we move up in consciousness to a new level. As above, so below.

I always looked at the elder sons trial a little differently than jealousy. I interpreted his sentiments as too guarded. When someone you love lets you down too often or cuts you deep enough, it's hard to let your guard down and open your heart to them again. Sometimes those prodigals sons "come back" for a short time then tear another wound into the hearts of those who have let them in again. Perhaps the most painful thing for the elder son to bear was the idea that the his younger would break their father's heart again and the elder son would have to again try to mend the pieces back together. The world would support and condone the elder brother in his beliefs, but the Savior offers a better path. Either way you look at it, the elder son needed healing power from the atonement in order to find peace just as the prodigal son did.

When you withhold forgiveness for someone, it is like taking poison and expecting your enemy to die. It is one of the most harmful things we can do to our soul just because we sin differently than someone else. This is a great message that anyone from any faith can learn a lot from. Truth is truth regardless of your religion. This message is one of the great truths. Thank you for sharing this!

It’s hard to be the ‘other son’, it’s hard to see everyone praying for and worrying about the lost one, and you pray for them too. When they come back you’re genuinely happy they did. But it’s hard because no one celebrated all those years you kept to the straight and narrow.
@mrreymundo53835 жыл бұрын
True. However, it is important to realize that the son who didn't stray didn't have to go through all the misery and deprivation the wanderer did. Also, in the biblical story it is not implied that the prodigal got any further inheritance rights. The one who stayed faithful probably inherited all the remainder of the father's substance, which presumably increased after the prodigal took his share.

Very true. It's painful to be overlooked or feel like an afterthought to your own family because you aren't the one struggling. I'm grateful for my good choices, grateful to not have to live with the regrets of poor decisions, and happy to see my siblings overcome their struggles, but the years of being overlooked still hurt. I'm still working to come to peace with this

My Ma and Pa from youth conference taught my family this last year. My family thought that we deserved a victory of a series of games that we had played against others families. When another family received the grand candy prize due to some unknown technicalities, my family was pretty upset and jealous that they got the prize we thought we deserved. My Ma and Pa taught us that night that our situation was similar to that of the elder brother's. We didn't take in what they were trying to teach us. It wasn't until later that I let my resentment go and understood their point.
