Your grandson swings the bat very well, they are all so precious at his age! Your daughter has done very well for herself! She gives me faith and hope for the future of the U.S. I can see why you are so proud of her! She has a very nice family and a great career! I didn't know what to expect from your visit to America, but I have loved watching every one of these videos mainly because learning about your family and friends has been so uplifting to me! Thanks for sharing!

lol, this was pretty cool, I have been watching for many years and then you visit my city... I live on the street, on the other side of the park where your daughter had her Chiropractic appt. a 5 minute walk... So strange to see you walking in the park where I sometimes walk and where my children played growing up. Many thanks to your daughter for serving.

@14:15 Would Hexclad cookware help with the metal utensils thing? It's suppose to be a hybrid nonstick pan where there's raised edges around the nonstick part that help prevent a metal spatula from digging into the coating.

The PX on this base is amazing! Wow. Chuck interesting fact. Many Western brands that exist in Thailand today originated from US PX bases during Vietnam war.

I lived in Vacaville about 10 years ago, but live a little less than an hour North, now. There are a millions of things to do around the area, from the Sonoma Coast, Wine Country, the Foothills (which, um, have more wineries) to redwood forest and more. I have no idea how far back your videos are from when you post them, but if you want some ideas, feel free to send me a note.

Thank you for showing me my old stompin' grounds! hahaha My Dad retired out of Travis Air Force Base when I was in high school. I came back a decade later to do my student teaching there, in a school that no longer exists. Back in the day, Vacaville had a population of just 28,000 people, we had one drug store downtown, with a druggist named Boyd, and one single high school. We had Vasquez Deli, owned by the family who had been there since forever...and are still there (thank God). It's grown so much in the past five decades, for sure!

I've never seen a PX before. It looks like a Target! Vaca means cow in Spanish so Vacaville means Cow Town.
@beverlyweber41227 ай бұрын
Yep! We called it that growing up! The city’s namesake came from Juan Manuel Vaca and the Vaca family, one of the first two settlers on the land along with the Peña family.

I have to say I am a little envious of your daughter's work environment. I left the Navy as an E-6 and then started in civil service as a GS-7. I retired as a GS-13 with a total of 37 years of combined service. In all that time I never had anything more than a cubicle. Thankfully rarely a shared cubicle, but a cubicle nonetheless. Of course, all those years let me retire at 56 and move to Thailand so it all worked out in the end. 🙂

I heard that some travelers opt to ship their extra luggage ahead of time, using a shipping company instead of paying the extra baggage fee at the airport. They say it's convenient, cheaper, and fast. Is that the case and have you tried it? That sounds like a great option, not having extra luggage to deal with on the return.

Why can’t you unload several items out of your suitcases and box it up and send it to Thailand and not have to deal with all the extra stuff and wait or check another bag??? Or maybe the cost of shipping from the United States to Thailand, would just cost as much or more as the extra bag? Just curious what your options would be ???

First time I left Thailand (after staying for 1 year), I flew to SF via HK, and stayed with friends in San Jose for 3 days. It was September, and bloody freezing at night after a year in Thailand! Mind you, I was heading back to the UK, which was even colder, but California had already taken the edge off for me! 🤣🤣🤣

All of California? All of Texas is generally the same. I mean it’s more humid in some parts than others but generally it’s all the same except on the border which is very Mexicoish. In California it’s totally different depending where you are. Politics are boring but I guess you could say California is politically the same as well as being expensive. Looks like she lives in a cool area that she likes but you say she doesn’t like California. I’m just trying to understand it. You mentioned overthinking in another comment. I don’t know your mindset and where it comes from unless you say it. 😊
