*This was my first time in Malindi.Go to Google and search for Malindi.I was ignorant of how the whole place looks like until I took this motorbike ride for 2 hours to visit the whole town. In my adventures I don't want to be a "tourist" I want to live like an average local in different places across the globe. Malindi has a lot of potential. I look at undeveloped and underdeveloped area's as an opportunity for a smart entrepreneur.* What do you think about this episode?

Some people are too proud/ashamed to ask for help when it’s clearly needed, and even resist when it’s coming from people with the same skin tone yet welcome the Asian and European with open arms. Not everyone, but I have seen this backwards mindset from some on the continent. It’s going to take a village

Great job A. Tigress! Indeed most of the population in Malindi live in Slums! I know poverty is relentless and this just shows how poor Kenya is as a country. However, what is the chief and locally elected officials doing? At a community level, and with proper leadership and vision, these communities need not degenerate into slums! Using African building resources, we can build with style and organization. What will happen when the population increases! A densely populated filthy slum? This is not unique to Malindi! We need some intervention, otherwise the development trajectory in Kenya is 'slums.'

Kenya is a poor country. What surprises me is why Kenyans are surprised by how poor their country actually is. The coast has some of the poorest people because many of them are landless (thanks to the land corruption where so much land was just taken away from them) Kenyans in Nairobi don't like to see the poverty and I'm not sure why (maybe someone here can tell us?) but even Nairobi has it's slums. Maybe they're worn out by it and what a sense of hope? Something to aspire to? Something that allows them to dream? Also, to eliminate poverty, you'll need a political solution and people on youtube want a break from the politics.
@SeetheWorldIn360degrees3 жыл бұрын
More of there are poor people in Kenya instead of "Kenya is a poor country." Not in anyway criticizing your statement or in opposition but as an addition to statement. Country could be rich but resource allocation skewed/uneven...and it's not necessarily only in Kenya but in majority of Africa and rest of the world. Having said that this really surprised me as well.

There are also poor people in the developed world but they have been concealed by the well articulated governance policies. What really makes the developed world to stand out, is the strategic urban and rural planning, no citizen is allowed to build structures outside the required standards (with organized waste management structures and provision of water people can actually start from a higher level which is lacking in the developing world) , secondly there is no free market there, it really matters what enters the country; thirdly the principles of good governance are strictly adhered to even though not perfect but they try and of course among other things.

She started with slums... wait until you see the town and the hotels..if she is kind enough.. remember even Jesus said the poor will always be with us ..I understand her strategy...is to shock the system into action..she knows kenyans rich and powerful watch her channel...but unfortunately she is letting those who. Believe Africans live in mud hats have a field day .. with this episode..I hope her other episodes changes this image... malindi is far better than this..let's see what is in her game plan...to trash or uplift.

As a Kenyan I would like to show the beautiful luxury places but that's not the live an average Kenyan lives. It's not the reality. I love to stay in connection with reality. Even right here in TZ I'm not living at the beach front luxury apartments. I'm living with the locals.
