May Allah forgive him and have mercy on him. His efforts were instrumental in awakening the Ummah for an Islamic revival.

What is your view on Muhammad Ali Pasha? Muhammad Ali Pasha wanted a to build a powerful successor state to the declining Ottoman State in the 1800s, but was stopped when the Western powers intervened to keep Mahmud II in power so they could interfere in the internal affairs of a weakened Ottoman State.

He was a reformer and strong leader. He is loved by the people of Egypt because he modernised and developed Egypt which was neglected by the Ottomans. However, I don't think he had the same popularity in Sudan and Najd because he ruled an iron fist. Perhaps he should have given other regions more autonomy. What do you think?

@@HistoryOfRevolutionsI think it would have been better if Muhammad Ali Pasha had replaced the Ottoman State with a more powerful successor state. Western powers (specifically British Empire & Russian Empire) wanted the Ottoman State destroyed, but they didn't want a strong state to emerge in place of it - thats why they preferred to have a weakened Ottoman State, which they could bully for a while and then later deliver a crushing blow, which would lead to the Ottoman collapse and its lands colonized by the Western powers. Mahmud II laid the foundation for Tanzimat which implemented secularization and allowed for Western interference. Muhammad Ali Pasha had built a strong military of the Egypt Eyalet - if he had succeded with his whole vision and became the ruler of all Ottoman lands, I think that in the long term, Western colonialism would have been successfully repelled in the Middle East and they wouldn't have occupied the whole region.

Good analysis. Muhammad Ali Pasha was not the only one who tried to do this. This happened multiple times in Egypt with people like Abbas Hilmy II and Ali Bey Al Kabir who both tried to create a strong empire from their base in Egypt. But Muhammad Alis attempt was definitely the most successful
