@@djstuc it's not nonsense. He's saying that for professional shoots, photographers would struggle with cameras like these. And he's right. In fact, Omar would agree with him, since he always said he wouldn't use Fuji for work. One of the reasons he mentioned was that it wasn't as fast and reliable to capture that moment.

Enjoyed this one a lot. I'm in my 40s, my only camera is an X-T1 I bought a year ago (before the prices exploded), and almost all of my photography happens on walks with my family. Love the film recipes, and I even like that the older camera "misses" more shots than a new camera would. Always enjoy seeing what you do on a neighborhood walk with an older camera.

The old cameras are just damn fun to shoot with. I regularly grab my X-T1 or 2 to go for a walk with, instead of my better-in-basically-every-way Zf (except the screen tilt). The colors are great, they feel more tactile and make great sounds. For those of us who love the process just as much as the result, they’re more fun IMO than many newer and more technically accomplished cameras.

The XT1 is probably as tactile as the latest XT5 though
@christopherbgriffith
@christopherbgriffith 25 күн бұрын
@@kart182 Maybe tactile isn't exactly the right word. I have the 1, 2, 3, and 5, and over time they've dampened the crispness of things like the mechanical shutter and made some buttons a bit mushier. You can argue that a quieter shutter is an asset for things like taking pictures in quiet environments, but in a noisy environment I'm not always 100% sure the 5 took the picture because I don't get enough haptic feedback. If I want super quiet operation, I can always use the electronic shutter - I like the mechanical to have a little heft to it. This is something that feels really good on the Zf and strikes the right balance of both feeling it and not noticing it too much. Over the years the build quality of the X-T line also just feels a bit cheaper and more plasticky. The 1 and 2 (which I got used after already owning the 3) both feel a bit more rugged and sturdier than the non-Made-In-Japan models.

The camera industry went through a lot of soul searching a decade ago, when nobody knew what the customers actually were going to buy and which direction to develop their technology in. That era gave us some remarkable innovation, like the Rx1r ii, the GX5, the GR series, and Gods know what other gems and flops history forgot. It feels current technology is getting better every iteration, but the options are getting fewer as technologies converge. Thank you for a light hearted video, your work is always a joy to watch. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to dig up my Olympus xz-2 and pray the battery still charges.

For the same reasons I recently bought a used Xpro1. I didn't really knew what to expect, but I just adore this camera. So simple, so easy to use, it has a real charm despite the lack of newer comfort features. I'm 100% sure it's better built than the newer Fuji cameras,the little Xpro1 became my everyday walk around camera,paired with the tiny 35mm f2. It has the quintessential Fuji colors/film simulations, whoever says this camera is obsolete(or any older Fuji), doesn't know anything about photography.

Depending on the type of photography you do, it’s nice to have a newer camera for those autofocus modes and things to assist in performing your job. Less room for error by your doing (lack of experience or training, or confidence in your skill). However, as an artist and to break away from that you need a tool to realign yourself and bring that joy back. Whether that be a different camera body or a manual/prime lens. I’m fortunate enough to own a couple cameras for my hobby to keep myself sane outside of my job. Another great video! My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you, and I thank you!

Damn your videos are so full of charisma and personality, just like the X-E2. For the past year, my sole goal was to purchase a fuji X-T5. Back in march I purchased an X-E2 just to hold on until the T5... and I fell in love with it to the point where I can't justify spending so much money on the T5 anymore. I'm just having a ton of fun as I am right now, and I don't think that a new camera with 10x more power and 10x more features will simplify this fun. It'll probably do the opposite and make me lose fun and shots overwhelmed by options.

It's tempting to get the x100v befofre pulling the trigger on the xe4 but the price difference made me pick the xe4. Also having a few options forces you to really be good and familiar with the settings and just focus on taking better photos.

Hey Omar, been awhile since commenting, enjoyed the video, and I occasionally pull out my X-T1 to have fun and see what I can capture. It's about the same vintage as the X-E2 you have here, and I was able to pick this up a few years ago from Samy's Camera in L. A., it was the last new copy they had left in inventory, and I paid $500 for it brand new. I think when it came out back in 2014, it retailed for around $1,300. I've thought about selling it but I just enjoy it more than I would getting a few hundred bucks for it. It's just a fun camera to shoot. 16MP w/ a 35 f/2 does just great for street. Cheers from Lafayette, LA!!

I just started shooting with a 15-year-old Canon EOS 550D. The timing for this video couldn't have been more perfect

Hi Omar, thanks again for a new video, I really like your way of presenting photos you take and your thoughts about photography. I have enjoyed shooting photos both with my nikon Z6 and my samsung phone, they are both great Z6 for better img quality and phone for better chance to get a shoot. I hope one day you can make a video commenting about your fans (like me lol) work, to see where we can imporve, and maybe we can find some really fun photos from all these fans of yours. Cheers mate

I love the motel signs, the neon. I had the X-E3 and enjoyed it but sold it when the prices went up.

Just last month I bought a Fujifilm XT20 for more portability than my bigger and heavier XT3. I also enjoy shooting with my ancient Nikon 1 AW1 and Nikon 1 J5, the later which is even smaller that XT20. I rarely shoot with my iPhone anymore.

Bought my XE2 Feb 2014 and taken many amazing photos with it. Japanese made and such a good little camera. Will never sell it.

Love my little X-E2. My favorite lens on it is the old Pentax Auto 110 lens for their 110 SLR. The 24mm F/2.8 is unbelievably small.

Good to see you Omar. I really hope fuji is looking this video. I think all of the new Bodys are really too much for an everyday shooter dad 😅 see you next time again.

Love your work! I am also not a fan of constantly upgrading the camera gear. Still have original Olympus E-M1 and was gifted a Fujifilm X100 (OG) a couple of years ago. I just love how simple that camera is.

Great video Omar. About a year ago I broke out my good ole Fuji X10 and immediately remembered why I fell in love with it. Funny thing it works just as good as the day I got it. Plus I love the compact size of it.

I Totally agree how much more fun older cameras are. Less features, less automation and definitely less learning curve on the software itself. Also less menu diving. I've had Sony a7 iii and iv, sold them both because I was always lost on what menu I should go to change some AF settings. I didn't mind the a7iv large files either. I like my Fuji x-t4 and x100v but still my x-pro one is the one I love the most.

The lock thing started on a bridge in Paris. Great photography. I have a couple of Nikon 1 J3s, exact for the reasons you mention.

Love this Omar. I drag my X-Pro 1 out when I am feeling nostalgic. It was the camera that reignited my love of photography

Loved this. Relaxed. And obviously took me down memory lane with our hometown.

I like that you stress that you really don’t need tons of gear to go out there and do street photography. That’s why I love my X-Pro 2 and a few lenses and just go out there and rock it! 😊
