Maybe it was my science/melee build, but I though prismatic hammer was pretty powerful. Most of enemies were getting oneshot by the strong attack, and it took out more than one enemy when it did. I though about changing it to other two hand melee, but it wasn't just cutting it. Splash damage was too good. I was just getting healed, and promised with crit thanks to two perks. It was just killing enemies nonstop.

Agreed. The prismatic hammer in those exact sorts of builds is quite literally easy mode game, but that's only in this specific build. Outside of this, it's a bit useless, but in this setup it is INSANE.

It was nerfed in a patch but is still strong, the more science you have the more effects go off at once. This should be obvious but if you want the science weapons to be effective, you have to boost your science skill.

The hammers power attack seems weaker than the normal attack

The offset is that it does aoe damage and deals every damage type, so it can actually be relatively powerful with specific builds.
