This John Spinks song just portrays Lennon as what he was ..... just a human being. Greetings from Chile from the creator of the radio program "Ciudad Vinilo".

I remember when this came out. I was struck by the plaintive "Don't Turn Around" refrain, perhaps thinking that had John simply ignored his assassin and just walked away he might've been spared. John Spinks idolized Lennon and the lyrics are not always spot on but it was the Don't Turn Around that always got me.

This song is rather cruel towards Lennon. Don’t be afraid when the day turns to night is a very painful line to contemplate. I blame the killer from Hawaii who had delusional thoughts in his head. He loved Lennon. He hated Lennon. He loved the Beatles. He hated the Beatles. The killer actually got an autograph on Lennon’s new album a day earlier and talked to him even. So why did he decide to kill Lennon the next day? He said he thought Lennon was a phony and a hypocrite. And he prayed to demons that they give him the strength to shoot Lennon. So he was definitely unhinged. Sick creep! He said he wanted to commit suicide by jumping in a volcano in Hawaii. I wish he had done that instead of killing Lennon and making the whole world mourn. Damn Loon!
