One of my favorite Outfield songs. It just shows you how great every song was on "Play Deep" that this was put as a B-Side only.

Arguably the best thing about KZbin is getting to hear old LP B-sides that you've never heard before, 34 years later! Thank you archivist and for the cool slide show. Killer outro in this one.

@CapeCodFarmer Thanks for your reply. The track is from the "Play Deep" era. If I can recall it was issued on the flip of the "Everytime You Cry" single in the US in early 1986

Love this! Never knew it existed. I wonder why it was left off Play Deep.

Yeah ................this track is a single ............It's not on an album............. It was the B-Side of 45 RPM Single, depending on the country of release ............. : )

Well in its current form there is no freaking way it would have fit the overall sound of Play Deep. This sounds more akin to the 1984 scarf era which it is from. The song in on itself has a "tame" drive, It just does not add up to songs like "I Don't Need Her" or "All The Love" or any song really from Play Deep. the lyrics the general progression just dont fit in with the aestethics of the album. It does not fit the sounds of Bangin' and it certainly does not fit VOB, neither Diamond Days or Rockeye for that matter. Its a song that was created during the scarf era and saw only limited production because the song was so very much "The Outfield" but at the same time NOT "The Outfield". This is one of many great songs from that period that just didn't fit in to any slots on the albums they did at the time or after because of the constant shifting desires of the music industry. For me it makes total sense why it was not included into Play Deep if this was produced fully and kept the original drive It would have sounded good but it would be such a weird song to have a song on Play Deep. The chord structure simply does not add up with Play Deep's song structure that was usually based on the root key of E or B songs like Nervous Alibi and Talk to me on the key of F and Taking my Chances on the key of Bb, if im not mistaken. This song was on the key of Bb. but I haven't played it in forever so I forget. lyrically it just does not fit Play Deep. just read the overall lyrics from Play Deep, Mystery Man and 61 seconds are expections but god damn those songs added that hard edge to the album. This has a riff but the general progression again just does not hold the power and quality of songs like "I Don't Need Her", better yet "Your Love". This song at the time flew under the radar and was released in certain countries as it own release but it never gained traction and it does not really suprise me. this is a gem for the more devoted Outfield fans.

@Kell0526 how about the general era...i.e. was this in the pre play deep era, play deep era, banging era etc?

This is great! Do you know around which album this version was recorded?
