I walked in a little Church I used to go to about a year after I hadn't been. I was on the way to the Hospital to see my Grandmother who was not going to make it (According to Drs.) when I passed the Church. I all of a sudden pulled in the parking lot and went in crying asking for Prayer for Her the Preacher said Ma'am, you're not supposed to come in here like that and interrupt us. I said just please Pray with me for my Grandmother and so they finally did. Afterwards ppl were crying and saying Praise God & the Preacher says Ma'am I'm sorry & you come back anytime because we need more ppl like you that has your Faith. Well I just said Thank You to everyone & left. By time I got to the Hospital my Grandmother was doing so much better & got to come home about a week later. She taught me about God and Jesus when I was just little & she lived to be 97. Thank You Nobody should Judge anyone that's God's place.

So very true..I moved from Illinois to Arkansas to be close to my grandma in her last years.anyway, myself and the guy I was with(15 yrs) went to a church they were kinda standoffish (:we didn't have expensive clothes,we are country people.))my church is my home.. a couple days later the pastor came to our house and told us not to come back to his church unless we were married. So we didn't tell him we were looking for a preacher to wed us. Then another church they would shun us cause we didn't have tithes$$(offering$_).every week and not much $$$been 10 yrs ¬ been back to a church since. That's not Christian. My point is it's people like that that keeps many from going to church and Praise God at home. I do.

My condolences and sympathy 🙏 As for where all the great country music has gone.. here's a story: Rory Feek [of Joey and Rory] would play his guitar that had a custom inscription which said "I miss country music" and he got a lot of criticism from the country music elites so he stopped playing the guitar onstage and instead started to play another guitar inscribed with the words "I love country music" in order to appease the naysayers. Thought that might resonate with you. Peace, love and blessings!

Dave B,I couldn't agree more. I lived in Kansas City for several years and every week when I would go to Liberty MO. I drove by one of those "Super Churches". It amazed me just the sheer number of people that were there. I think that's a good thing. If it works for them then bless them all. I can sit in my little country church and be content. I am an ordained minister as well as an old fashioned ex Hell Raiser and have learned that it don't always have to be a church. Some of my favorite "me and Jesus" times are when I am sitting on the bank of a lake or pond waiting for the fish to bite, or when I am mowing the lawn with my headphones on listening to my music. I hope that everyone can eventually find a nice little country church where neighbor looks after neighbor regardless of a past.

Love this song because the same thing happened to me. I went to my mother's church to surprise her for her birthday. I was dressed in all black, black duster and cowboy hat. I had long hair and a beard. When I opened the door I was told that I couldn't come in looking like that. My mom showed up and have me a hug. The guy called her by name and he asked her if she knew this bum. She said yes and then he told me I could come. I said no thanks I don't want to go in a place where I wasn't welcome!!

When I see the sun come up sitting on the steps of a Freightliner, I understand. I care about others more than me. I can give without shame, I give and share what I have. Might not be much, but I share what I have. Don't need no Preacher telling me how to live, I already know. Jesus taught me that, a long time ago. I'm just a Trucker.

One night at the Kings Inn I met Johnny and his band! Wasn't his best show a few too many. I got to be with Johnny on his bus, we talked about life as life isn't what you may think. His values are different than mine. He made it, my life was just starting! That's been 31 years ago, now my life did change I did make it where I didn't think possible! His words of life still ring true through the drinks didn't crush the words he gave to me!

Thanks Terry Morgan, this one hits close to home for me. When I was a teen I was kicked out of the choir because my white wall hair cut wasn't 2 inches off my collar. They actually took two 6inch rullers to the top of my head and measured down my neck.it was too long even with a military white wall hair cut.( For those of you who weren't around in the 60's and 70's, a white wall hair cut is when the barber would take his clippers and drive it around your ears and expose your scalp.) I left church for a while after that. I was 17.

MY GUESS IS YOU WEREN'T IN THE RIGHT KIND OF A CHURCH AND I WILL DEFINITELY GO ALONG WITH A OLD SAYING THAT HAS MANY PEOPLE LIKE YOU TO SHY AWAY FROM CHURCH BECAUSE I HAVE WATCHED SO CALLED CHRISTIANS AND SAID TO MYSELF, IF THAT IS A TRUE CHRISTIAN, I DON'T WANT TO BE CALLED ONE. Johnny paycheck this song is talking about the Way Church really should be I'm 62 years old I've seen it changed through the years most churches you go in now is all about the money how much money can you give give money give him money can't serve God and money which is Mammoth you can't but what you got to do is keep what's in your heart I grew up a Baptist family went to the Baptist Church I believe in all beliefs as long as they believe in God he's there just lost my wife in September 21 years I know she's up in heaven she's my angel looking down on me to help me get through this song reminds me of her so much true country told the truth about what they were going through that's a simple way of life things have changed so much virus people were just going crazy it just needed to slow down I try to respect people talk to him there's a lot of good people out there if you open your heart up to them you they really will find you and you will find them today's country is nothing like what it was when I was growing up I was born in 1960 my Dad loved Waylon Jennings 45 record the world's just moving too fast they definitely need to slow down and listen to a song like Johnny paycheck singing right here outlaws prayer is absolutely the truth.
