The Outpost true story is explored, including the historical accuracy of the movie in relation to the real Battle of Kamdesh at Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan. During the fact check, we introduce you to the real Clint Romesha, Benjamin Keating and Ty Carter, portrayed by Scott Eastwood, Orlando Bloom and Caleb Landry Jones in the movie. In examining The Outpost real story vs. the movie, we also look at the historical accuracy of Benjamin Keating's death and Robert Yllescas' death, both of which are depicted in the film in the lead up to the Battle of Kamdesh at COP Keating.
To learn more about The Outpost true story and historical accuracy, read our History vs. Hollywood article here: www.historyvshollywood.com/re...
Also, check out Jake Tapper's book, which inspired The Outpost movie: amzn.to/3isiQN5

He was the "ass end" of the patrol in which Capt and please forgive me for the misspelling, Yellskis was killed. He was also in the TOC watching live feed of two of his best friends when their position on patrol was over run. I have the movie and have read the book "THE OUTPOST" along with "RED PLATOON". It served in the OK ARNG for a year and a half before going ADAF for seven and a half years as a surgical technician. Sad that you knew them personally, my condolences. Is it true that Scusa had applied for flight school, and wanted to become an officer, or is it something that was made up in the movie? It doesn't seem consistent of what you say he told you at Fort Carson.

Great film. One of the few that captures Patrol base life In Afghanistan. But now I have to let my dark humor out. Isn't it funny that Blackburn misses the rope in Mogadishu, Recovers, gets commissioned, goes to Afghanistan, FALLS AGAIN, and finally eats it? But other than that top knotch. Now if they would just do one about the battle of WANAT!

Which doesn't include any non-awol local native soldiers or translators, medical staff etc. Was that a script error about the 54? Thanks. I've seen that movie on (iirc) Amazon. I'm hesitant about watching things I haven't gotten some information on as ... there is a lot of crap out there ... but this seems worth watching. We'll see. Hollywood is pretty much run by Liberal Jerk Offs (as opposed to the Conservative Jerk Off's running other things) and often is pushing a political agenda - especially if "diversity" is a consideration. There is so much lately - that is other wise well done - but it ruined by "diversity". OK. I watched this and most of it was pretty good. Here is a History vs. Hollywood question for you: Do real modern day soldiers today unendingly make jokes about homosexuality? I was in the Marines in 1970 and ... we never made jokes like that. It's something that wouldn't even occur to us to say - and yet - here - in this movie and in Saving Private Ryan - they always show the military people making homosexual jokes about each other. All I can see - is that there are no homosexuals involved - so they have to get in their diversity points by making shit up. I would say that the military culture could have changed a lot since I was in - but - Saving Private Ryan was about WWII. The other thing is - Hollywood is so hell bent on pushing their liberal agenda - that I've come to expect it. Things I wouldn't have paid any attention to years ago ... now ... are like "OK ... here it is ... here comes the Diversity Propaganda ..." Lastly - why aren't people like you pointing these things out? Are you afraid of them? Of being Anita Bryanted? You have all these movies that fail - when Diversity - is one of the prime reasons for that failure - and other than the KZbin "Get Woke/Go Broke" Ranters - most reviewers never even breath of it. Eh ... other than that it was about as well done as anything coming out of Hollywood. .

Why would people talk about it, homosexual jokes don't effect the narrative and are just to flesh out the character. Plus in Saving Private Ryan it's just one scene that they make the joke and it just comes and goes and is never mentioned again. As for diversity most war films I've seen don't even shove diversity into the audience faces, the only recent war film I can think of that shows diversity when there shouldn't have been is 1917 but even that film gets away with it since the diversity is in the background and the filmmakers have constantly said it fiction and the film is clearly just an illustration of WW1.
@BobSmith-dk8nw
@BobSmith-dk8nw 3 жыл бұрын
@@user-nt6lt1ji2m The thing is - it is an insinuation of politics into entertainment. They are trying to make the acceptance of homosexuality seem normal. Acceptance as being normal is the primary point of the Homosexual Agenda (such as it is). The thing is - that acceptance - is a lie. Real people in the military (the ones I knew) and in RL in general - regard homosexuals with some degree of contempt. They don't hate them - they mostly are indifferent to them - they just don't want to watch them. The thing is - the Homosexuals want to be watched. They want their POV to be represented - and most people aren't interested in it. (The real haters here - are the Homosexuals - as most Hetrosexuals don't care enough about them to hate them). Now - there is the inclusion of Homosexuality because it is part of the plot - and there is it's inclusion - so the film makers can be Politically Correct. Look at Chasing Amy, The Perks of Being A Wall Flower - and one season of The Americans. In the stories these were telling - the Homosexuality of the Character - was part of the story. These stories represented real life aspects of Homosexuals lives as part of the plot. That was great. All these things were very well done. But that is NOT what 90% of Hollywood does. They seem to have different methods for calculating their Diversity Points (which of course is not just about Homosexuality). Sometimes it's like this one off scene - like in the Hanna streaming series. There is little or no Diversity as such through most of the series but - then they have their Diversity Episode that has a Homosexual Character in it and Hanna loses her virginity to a Black Guy. Then - Diversity Points Achieved - that's the end of it and they go back to the story. Others - like in The Boys and Stranger Things - have the delay. They are afraid that they will lose viewers if they have a Homosexual Character - so - what they do is hide this characters sexuality - until - the feel they have the viewers invested in the show - and then comes the big reveal. Another thing is the feeling that they need to balance out the cast. So - a lot of times - they will have a white girl - and give her a boy friend with a darker skin. Black or South Asian. If they want to have a white boy and a white girl they have to balance that out some other way - so one device that's commonly used - is the Homosexual Room Mate. If they make this a Black Homosexual Room Mate - they get a Two Fer - with double the diversity points. The point of all this is - that Hollywood is just being a bunch of hypocrites. They feel compelled to be Politically Correct - so they'll do some token thing to get their Diversity Points but - it's not done because it's part of the story - but purely for Politics. Now - if this all seems a little far fetched to you - just start paying attention and you'll see it. I happen to hate people trying to sneak in their political agenda disguised as entertainment - so I gradually came to notice this shit over the last 20 years or so. But lately - it's gotten really bad. Of course - here - Grrrrl Power - is source of Diversity Points. These things keep blowing up in their faces - like Terminator: Dark Fate and Birds of Prey - but they keep making them. Oh ... and in case you think this is a somewhat long post ... I write long posts. I just came from one on the various machine guns and cannon with which WWII Fighter planes were armed. Same shit. I type fast and analyze ... everything. If you look up Nerd in the dictionary - there's a picture there of me. _shrug_ .

Bob Smith while I do see the problem in many forms of films that take place in the past I find if its sublet like in Stranger Things then I'm personally find with it, but of course like you said it's not always the case 90% of the time. But back to Saving Private Ryan I do agree it's out of place for the time but I find that's more because Steven Spielberg(who for the majority of his historical films he does a good job at realism and authenticity) didn't do extensive research in how American soldiers in WW2 acted rather than just pushing some political agenda, because we see the same thing in his mini series Band of Brothers and where they use modern swears over extensively and in The Pacific the way the some of the soldiers talk about women and seem to act more like characters from the 80s Vietnam films rather than WW2 US Marines. I'm not disagreeing with everything you're saying I just don't think some of the films(Saving Private Ryan)or shows(or in this case just Stranger Things because I haven't seen those other ones) you mention are making any political agenda in that way.

@@user-nt6lt1ji2m It's not that blatant most of the time. The Old Guard, a new streaming movie with Charlize Theron does have two Homosexual Lovers in her little squad but mostly it's these little subtle hints at things that are intentionally done to slip below the radar of people and subvert their perceptions (that is brain wash them) without them noticing. Most people don't really care to watch Homosexuality so - as I said before - out of fear of losing their audience film makers tend to be somewhat circumspect in earning their Diversity points - but - this Liberal Agenda is pervasive and once you start noticing it - you'll see it in most of the things coming out of Hollywood. With Saving Private Ryan - that little exchange in the field as they are marching along - that's it. But - it IS there and it's not an accident that it IS there. The thing with the latest Stranger Things though - is they bring in this new character - start this romantic relationship with an established character and then - viola! - she's a lesbian. Again - the Hidden Homosexual. Get the viewer invested in the show - and then spring this on them. So - the Agenda - is very much active in the last edition of Stranger Things. The thing is - my examples - were just that, examples of things that are in fact pervasive. There are a LOT more cases of this happening to the point where MOST of the shows produced by Hollywood have these little nods to Diversity in them. I don't know exactly why this is. It would seem - due to the token nature of a lot of these things - that there is someone that the film makers are trying not to piss off - but I've no idea who that would be. The thing here - is that - as I said - I don't actually know how people in today's military speak - though I did work with a LOT of military people up to about 15 years ago. At that time - there was none of this Homosexual banter. People I worked with - just did not talk that way. IF it were not for all the other Diversity things going on - I wouldn't have thought anything of it. The first time I saw Saving Private Ryan ... I didn't really think anything of it. It was only in retrospect - to the fact that this type of banter became a universal characteristic of the depiction of military personnel that I realized how far back it went. Also - it isn't so bad here that I'd stop watching. This was a fairly good movie and I enjoyed watching it - it's just that it had to have it's Diversity stuff and that was an irritant that detracted from the film. .
