The Outrage of Danny Sotomayor - A Chicago Stories Documentary

Danny Sotomayor received what amounted to a death sentence in 1988 - he was diagnosed with AIDS. At the time, there was no cure, drugs designed to combat the disease were expensive and hard to come by, and people often died within weeks of the first failures of their immune systems. Twenty-nine-year-old Danny Sotomayor was terrified. Feeling the clock ticking on his life, the cartoonist set out to confront the AIDS crisis as only he knew how: by making a spectacle.

Some Americans like to, I'll use the word undervalue, Middle America--sometimes even resorting to "flyover country" as an insult. But two of the greatest health care activists/advocates came from there. Danny in Chicago and Ryan White in central Indiana--and both during the late '80s to early '90s. The much-greater-resourced Chicago city health care budget and the federal Ryan White AIDS Care Act, passed by Congress in 1992, are living testimonies to these gentlemen and the lives their advocacy saved. May they truly rest in peace.

Did anyone repent of their sins? Did anyone care where they would spend eternity? With Christ? Without Christ? Disobedience to God’s Divine Laws always brings about judgment, for any sin. Worshipping the creature, whether that be money, power, business, sex, etc is sin. Worshipping only Jesus Christ, our Creator is the answer to mankind’s biggest problem. I thank the Lord Jesus for saving me from these events during the 1980’s by following Him even though everything in me wanted what was not permitted to me. At this stage of my life, I praise the Lord for His love for me, His Grace and Mercy and eternal life through Jesus Christ my Lord and My God. Don’t worship the creature. Worshiping the creature is the central idea of being gay. I know this for a fact! The TRUTH will set you free!

Following the Lord Jesus most of my life did more to save my life and bring me to this point of 67 years of age to testify that following Him was and still is the best decision of my life. The inappropriateness comes from you thinking you’re better or “saved” because of your decisions being “right” in the eyes of some god you believe in, meaning you don’t feel the need to have empathy for people dealing with a devastating disease- one you avoided catching by chance, despite what you believe. @@Autumnliminal We are all sinners, condemned to eternal hell. This is what Jesus says very clearly. John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." I am amazed that so many people will believe that God is Love, and yes, He is, but He is a lot more than that. Jesus Christ says we are to love Him in return with all our hearts, minds, and souls. Then we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. These are the Great Two Commandments. But Jesus also says, 'If you love Me, keep my commandments" Jesus says, "Love each other as I have loved you!" Right after saying this, He was lead off to be crucified, to give His life to save all of us from our sins. If I love you as my neighbor, I am also going to tell you the truth about what the Bible in its entirety. We cannot pick and chose what the truth is. There is only one Truth, no personal truths. You may have personal experiences and opinions, but there is only one truth, one standard of righteousness and holiness, which is what Jesus came to bring to us. He says clearly, Be Perfect as I am Perfect, Be Holy as I am Holy. This is the Truth. You will notice in John 3:18 that those who do not believe in Jesus stands condemned already! This is our legal standing before God "already". Condemned to die, except for those that come to Him, confess their sins and turn from worshiping created things, in the case of being gay, it means not worshiping other men, but turning to worship the Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ. I am here today as a Christian, who was changed by the Grace of God and protected from getting AIDS in the 1980's when no one knew what was going on. I'm not perfect by any means, but I have found that worshiping the Lord Jesus has freed me from being gay and worshiping other men. He can do the same for you all too! Everyone worships creatures of some kind or another rather than the Creator. This explains the entire problem of the human race and why we find ourselves where we are.
