In 1971, the young owner of this Oval Beetle from Cologne died. Her grieving husband placed the Beetle in his garden in the Westerwald as a memento of his wife, where the Ovali slowly sank into the mire, surrounded by blackberries. In 1989, I salvaged it with a few friends and made it roadworthy again. In the early 90's this Beetle advanced to the "Godfather of Ratlook", with wooden skis on the rear and an adolescent tuning attempt we drove the Quarter-Mile at the VW-Forum in Castrop-Rauxel in 1994 under the jeering laughter of the audience.
Time to tackle the matter a bit more savvy now, but no less youthful.
