No, they played the Presidents after him. He bravely took on the inevitable and set up a workable solution to managing the relationship going forward. The execution of and modifications that have worked against us are not on him. The bribes that both parties took happened after his Presidency, but then again maybe as with his loyalty to a fault, he also expected much better of our leadership and representatives as to lead with his Americans first approach which wasn't the reality.

President Nixon like someone just commented earlier, is indeed a political genius. I wasn't old enough to witness him in office as a US president. But I can see that his level of diplomacy is unrivaled. Truly a very cordial relationship between the US and China 🇨🇳 will certainly restrain China from any aggression on Taiwan 🇹🇼 because that would not go down well with the US who is an ally in this case. As opposed to when there is no cordial relationship between them. China and Russia being cordial against the US means doom for the peaceful existence of Taiwan 🇹🇼.

Just pure, brilliantly rational and practical insight on a human scale, typically. I was discussing this channel with my very knowledgeable and experienced - in government - long-retired 81 year-old aunt just today. She told me that she still regretted that Nixon didn't win in '60. There would have been no Bay of Pigs, no Cuban Missile Crisis, no Vietnam, detente with the USSR, AND normalization of relations with China under his (certainly two term) presidency. There probably wouldn't have been a Moon shot, not in the '60s at least, but so what. The Soviets got the president they wanted in 1960, she suggested rather cryptically. I don't know about that, but It was an interesting counterfactual with a very special lady. I tend to believe her suspicions, especially after the total, open corruption I've witnessed (we've all witnessed) over the past eight years. If only Trump was a good as Nixon. He should certainly try to be in the go-around.

He was a Statesman! He totally understood politics and how the others thought. We need a president with him, Regan, Trump, and Kennedy all wrapped in one convenient package.
