I just picked up a preowned LNIB SRQ053 Black version of this. Extremely impressed. Outstanding build quality. Wears very comfortably on wrist. Unique and very well done bracelet. Crisp pusher. Accurate timekeeping. Cool vintage vibe. I can go on and on. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

Congratulations Seiko on another great watch. I might not ever get a SRQ047, but I appreciate its beauty.

Nice job Bruce, I agree with all your points. This watch is very underrated, and priced at a steal for what it offers. Glad to see it getting some attention from your channel.

I absolutely LOVE this model. My third chrono after sapphire sandwich speedy and JDM nu-vintage speedy. It’s a wonderful piece.

I'm an automatic guy but love my Pogue. Agreed, 42mm is the ideal size for a watch.

It depends on the watch. The Rolex Submariner was perfect at 40mm for a long time.

Almost every youtuber talks about how watches shoud be small, no they shouldn't, I apsolutly agree with you about the sizeing...yes there should be smaller watches but not every watch should be small.

Yeah especially a chronograph complication. If you want to read the dial.

Yo Bruce, nice vid. Seiko is always a solid sport watch. The current Pogue Chronograph is a nice piece. Seiko is a reliable choice IMHO.

"there is a magic" ha ha ha....This is what it's all about! That is how you feel when you get a watch you love. I can't deny sporty Seiko is always alluring. They get a whole lot right in their own way, and for a reasonable price.

I do like the SRQ047. It is perhaps inspired by the vintage piece, but there is little resemblance with a vastly different case, dial design, and pushers. I have a few the 6139; a steel 6012, gold tone 6012, JDM green dial 8040 and a silver dial 8002. There’s so much variety and are so enjoyable. Their smaller diameter and short lug length makes them work on my 6 3/8 (+/-) wrist. The Pogue is one of the larger 6139 variants.

I have the 1964 Tokyo Olympic version. And its as nice as any Tudor, Longines or Tag I think Seiko Chronos are underrated. The movement is so smooth to operate.

Love these. But did Seiko cut the price on the SRQs with 3 subdials when they released this? Or was the bicompax version always $500 more? I got the SRQ039 and added the bracelet afterward, and I love this big beast of a chronograph (alongside my Speedy for when I want something slimmer). I do wish the date were not so deeply recessed and that Seiko's USA service center were more reliable for their high-end watches.

I live in hope that Seiko will some day properly re re the 6139.

I would love that, maybe they are holding out for 2029 for a 60th anniversary release?

Nice one. But, my favorite modern mechanical chronograph movement from Seiko and speedtimer re-interpretation is the SBEC005 which I owned. I sometimes still miss it. Equal sentiment applies to a vintage silver dial 6139 speedtimer I had. Sokd to Jory at The Time Teller and I believe he still has it. It was a pretty nice and somewhat rare example between all the 3 "Pogue" sthle color ways.

For a hundred bucks less you can get a really nice Hanhart Flyback Chrono with more options available including a Panda and reverse Panda
@jerryglasses2 ай бұрын
Different vibe. Just because they are both chronos they are not the same.
@Bob_In_Thailand2 ай бұрын
@jerryglasses Yes, that is true being that the Hanhart is a pilots watch with a manual flyback movement. For the price, the Hanhart is a worthy alternative.

Own the 023 presage enamel dial model which uses the same calibre. Bit too dressy, but a fantastic calibre. The only option at a similar price eould he something with the much more crude valjoux 7750. Of which I own one watch, a tissot prs 516 carbon dial. Operating the pushers is so clunky compared to the seiko.

Once upon a time, I would insist on 38mm watches and would be scared of anything over 40mm. Tastes evolve the longer you are in this watch addiction. Now, if it is a dive watch or has a complication, bigger is better so long as the lug to lug works for my wrist. If it is time only or only has a date complication, don’t care if it is a field watch, dress watch or GADA, I’m going small.
@AnotherDaveInParadise2 ай бұрын
At £2350 here and below average accuracy of +25/-15 a day, it's a hard sell. Have seen it on offer for under £1500, but even then I think one for the Seiko die hards only. IMO it's also too big, but the movement is what lets it down. Would rather get a solar quartz for 1/4 or 1/3 of the price.

Damn, i wish they can just move the X elsewhere like they did on their older models before going apeshit of placing the X logo when-ever possible
@DMBVR42 ай бұрын
They cut an unforgivable corner with this movement, in that it has scrolling chrono minutes. NOBODY does that anymore. I'm wearing a 6139 from 1975 right now and it has semi-instant jumping minutes. They had the tech and know-how 55 years ago, so they CAN... they either lazily chose not to, or incompetently forgot to. Either way, when you add the price, its hard pass on an otherwise homerun.

I recently purchased this was based on seeing it online . It’s been a big disappointment. one thing that doesn’t come across from pics is the poor visibility of the dial Due to the very small hands It’s very hard to tell the time in low light. The fact that the small hands on top of a high contrast background also makes the time harder to read. The lume is absolute JUNK . And that is not an exaggeration. It’s not just that the area of the lume is small. It literally lasts about an hour and it’s gone. As far as the chronograph, the hands on the subdials are so tiny that it’s almost impossible see them in any conditions other than outside in daylight. The orange tips of the subdial hands and chronograph seconds hand are too “light” of an orange to be set against a white background. And thus adds to the overall visibility problem. they should have made the first 2/3 of the seconds hand orange and made the tip black. That Would have been much better. The chronograph pushers are just “ok” in my opinion. Given the vertical clutch and column wheel I thought they would have the positive crisp click when pressing them but it’s just so so. And not anywhere close to the level of a brietling chronograph The bracelet looks ok and has nice finishing but doesn’t have any solidity. The click when closing the clasp is weak and feels about the same as a $1000 sarx model. Finally, the time keeping is a bit disappointing It gains anywhere from 5-7 seconds per day. Which means if I were to daily wear it I’d need to be resetting the watch every week or so. Overall a very disappointing piece.

@johnt1115Ай бұрын
@@mainlymusicman the legibility on the lighter dial is tough. I saw one in person 3 days ago and agree. My black dial reverse panda doesn’t have that issue. Happy Holidays!
