You are right about everything. My AD opened my eyes about this watch, told me to consider this option. I made my research, bought it, never regretted. Awesome engine, easy to read dial, mesmerising frost look. Wears way better than the dimensions say about it. Wears way smaller than a 44mm. Very comfy. Gr8 video!

This is going to be my watch for my collection. You are right. It’s only when you see the watch in person that you can appreciate the beauty.

Great review, thank you! Do you (or anyone else that owns it) struggle at all with legibility while reading the chronograph elapsed minutes? Just a lot crammed into that subdial. Or is it pretty easy for you to tell elapsed minutes?

This is the ONLY Speedmaster I would buy.

Bruce, don't you know that this watch have a safety features which enable you to press any pusher any time in any circumstances without breaking the mechanism? I don't know why any KZbin reviewer that have this watch for the video-shoot never mention any of it. As far as I know now, this is the only chronograph movement family that is non flyback that could do so. You can press the reset button while the chronograph is running, you can press both pusher at the same time, you can press the reset button then simultaneously press the start button, etc. That is why the watch is so thick, the movement itself is thick and have one specific layer that houses those safety features in total counting to around 70 parts alone. Those safety mechanism also the reason why there's no skeletonized version of this movement yet and I don't think that even Artisan De Geneve even able to do skeletonized 93xx/99xx movement. These movement are built like a tank.

I just bought this model, love it very much since it was much a surprised for me that I would but after trying it on, I was taken. And I didn't think I would be able to pull off a 44.25mm size on my 6.5 inch wrist but the short lugs made it worked perfectly. Thank you for the safety feature brief, didn't know that. Appreciate it.

@@joshuajuarez3471 yes it is. It also serve as an indicator of when to service the watch too, if you pressed the reset button during the chronograph running but the push action never give in, it's an indicator that the lubrication is getting dry.

The Speedmaster Racing 9900 are massively overlooked. The online photos don’t do them justice. Little things like white gold indices, considerably higher finishing than other Speedies, and maxing out the Omega 9xxx movement tech (METAS coaxial, double barrel springs, jumping hour, vertical clutch, column wheel) is where the price is justified.

Out of all my watches I find myself wearing this watch the most, always makes you look fresh, take a shower, shave, spray some autumn sexy fragrance, throw in some dark blue jeans, tan suede shoes, a white casual shirt, take the keys to the 911 or the black X6M and get out rule the world

While it might be a bit large for some folks, I think this is a much nicer looking watch than the new white speedy.

personally prefer the black one - it's got way more orange accents and is a bit more visually exciting. thickness and depth rating could be improved but it is one of my grails.

The answer is to have both! I have the White Speedy and the Black version of the Racing. I love them both in very different ways. I would add the White Racing to the collection in a second, but I would prefer the Silver Snoopy! I'm on the list for that one!

I own this one, and just like the reviewer, the dial "flies under the radar". I always get positive comments when I wear this one.

Great piece, I own this (plus the blue titanium speedy and a neo-vintage moonwatch) and do find it to be on the heavy side. Also think would prefer an appliquéd Omega logo. A great thing about the two handed chrono register, it can be used as a dual time zone when traveling (the chrono I believe can be kept running with no impact to the movement). Any thoughts on trading the racing for the new white moonwatch? It sounds like you wouldn't, however I don't own a modern moonwatch and definitely like the new bracelet a lot better, thanks!

This watch that got me into the hobby. I did not know much about high end (for me) watches, picked it over the moon watch, and 20 watches 3 years later, this watch still gets tons of wrist time. With the L2L of slightly under 50 mm it is comfortable… even though now my target size is 37 - 41 mm.

Hi. Can you give details on the sub dials pls. The left is seconds for the chronograph. The right has two markers. I can tell one is the 12 hours. What’s the other marker for?

Great review Bruce and I agree with everything you said. I owned this one for a couple of years but ended up trading as I had too many white dials. I do miss it tho - who knows, it may be a rebuy some day.

I've had mine for almost two years and do Not. Regret. The. Purchase. At. All. Fit and finish is outstanding, the pearlized dial is beautiful, and the 9900 movement is deadly accurate (for me +/- 2 to 3 sec/day). The simplicity of the black, white, orange aesthetic allows one to go completely apeshit with straps.

One of my all time favorite Omega references and remains on my "short-list". Perhaps I haven't bought it because the price scares me away? or possibly because it would steal wrist time from my Polar Explorer? Either way, great video, you make a compelling argument to consider adding one soon!

Try the second hand market, even on models 1-2 years old, it's 30% lower than the selling price. Good value.

Pretty Speedy but the new white dial without the black rings and with that awesome new style bracelet looks more elegant, premium to me. This dial feels busy to me and too Daytona like. For my taste

I can appreciate what they were trying to do and I have tried on a few times. I almost got it but the dial is not quite right, it’s a little too heavy and little two bulky. All in all just not slick enough. I think the new white speedy is too small. Something midway between the two would be perfect.

I love the 2 counter speedmasters but they are just too big. Needs to be 39-40mm

The diameter is a bit misleading because of the shear guards. I have this exact model as well as the SMP and they wear identical.

Column wheel, vertical clutch, 28800 bph, automatic, twin barrel, specs alone this is far better than the 3861…..larger yes that’s the downside

44mm is one of the flaws. Loved the look online. Checked it out at a boutique and it’s a hell no from me. Finishing, dial, and bracelet were great though

I tried it on, it was a little large, a little boring, and like the moonwatch...a sports watch needs to ne 10 bar, and i will be more likey to buy one.

This is really nice looking but it's to sporty, making it less versatile in my watch rotation. Limited wearability for me. And it's as if it has to much contrast, which helps readability, but that's being to picky. This bracelet is an absolute no go for me, the nail in the coffin.
