“Look kid, everyone wants to believe they’re ‘chosen.’ But if we waited around for a prophecy to make us special we’d die waiting. That’s why you need to choose yourself.” That. That right there was when I knew I was going to absolutely adore this show.

Toy safety regulations really weren't as tight in the 1980s. I'd like to say not to the extent of being deadly sharp, but the original lawn darts weren't fully banned in the US until 1988 and they were responsible for at least three deaths.

What I like about this episode and why I consider the first two episodes to be a pair is that, I think they have messages that complete each other. " It's okay to indulge your fantasy....but you need to stay a bit in reality too."

The first season is a rollercoaster in terms of quality, but at the end the rollercoaster turns into a rocket ship and does not slow down.

i think what makes this episode stand out is how it accentuates how Luz can't jsut live in a fantasy, the Isles aren't like her books and she's not some special chosen one. She's jsut special in her own way. THis episode jsut sold to me that they aren't gonna ignore Luz's flaws and act like she doesn't need to change at all, but she has to accept SOME change.

You mentioned loving Hooty's voice. The voice is done by the same person as King (the little dog like creature), there was several lampshades about it in future episodes where King dislike's Hooty's voice

This show is awesome with the setups they do. It's always all out in the open and yet you never see it coming. Episode 1 - "What are the fireworks for?" - "They were for the act 3 closer." cut to act 3 ending with the fireworks being chucked into the warden's mouth Episode 2 - "Never trust a man in sandals" - gets betrayed by a man in sandals

What a great way to start my morning! - That initial gag with the passing monster is kind of a distillation of this show's comedic style. I get the feeling that won't be the _last_ bout of hysterical laughter this show kicks off! - Well, _that_ didn't take long. Hooty's baffling at the best of times, but he has his funny moments. - Owl Lady isn't a morning person. Who'd'a thunk? - Between the runaway success of _Hazbin Hotel_ and the gloriously unrestrained _weirdness_ of the Boiling Isles, I wonder if Disney ever _regretted_ not letting Dana set her story in Hell. - "Weh!" is kinda King's _thing._ - I'd give Luz more flak about being too eager to believe what she hears, but... I mean, she's _14. _*_Every_* person below the age of 25 is _some_ flavor of stupid. - You may end up regretting wondering about Hooty's anatomy. (He's voiced by Alex Hirsch, by the way, same as King.) - As tough as it was to watch Luz get carried away by her own need to be special, it was crucial for her to learn that lesson. The world doesn't work off of fantasy-novel logic, and it's frequently cruel and callous to those who don't fit in -- you've gotta find the beauty amid the bleak, and seek out your own path to follow. It's a good lesson for _any_ show to have, and something that's been lacking from Disney's previous attempts at stories like this. - You pretty much got it in one: the Boiling Isles are built atop the bones of a Titan, a colossal creature whose remains gave rise to an entire ecosystem of creatures over the ages. It'll get explored in more detail later on how the Isles' natural history played out, though most of the Demons of the Isles (the non-humanoid denizens, basically) originated from the Titan... as did a few _other_ plot-relevant things I shouldn't talk about yet. - Don't forget what I said about the episode titles hiding a message. *A W*

Season 1: You are special and weird, just like everyone else, and that's beautiful. Season 2: Everyone deserves a second chance. A third chance might be a mistake. Well, there’s also some else you gotta be concluded on this show was not meant for Disney Channel for Cartoon Network. It was an adult programming show that’s where reference to Hell came from at the time. Cartoon Network was only looking for 15 minute segments shows they skipped out on this, so she modified it, now the other character in the opening the one on the far right is a very unique character. I can assume you realize why they cut it off so I’m gonna leave it to you to put two into together. You’ll get the reference. I’m talking about by episode 16 and you should be able to get it earlier Good luck

weeeeeell...they worst episodes of the entire show are still to come... BUT, and that IS a BIG BUT, there are 2 Phases of Owl House, the "we need to find our Grove" phase, which contains a few not so good episodes and the "HOW IS THAT A DISNEY SHOW" phase, which has basically only bangers... and phase 1 already ends at a certain point in Season 1. I always hope that Reactors stick to it until that point, because once it is there... one does not simply stop watching it.
