before season 2 aired, dana terrace said in an AMA: "Amity's parents appear one way... But there's a little more to them than you guys think, and that could either be good or bad for our protagonists. I especially have fun writing Mr Blight. He's interesting." and we finally started to see what she meant in this episode whether or not they come up in season 2 again is a surprise you'll just have to wait to find out

Since the creators of Owl House and Amphibia know each other and are fans of the show, you can see little references to each other's shows if you look for them. Gravity Falls nods are there too. If you look hard, you can see a yellow pyramid clock on the shelf at Eda's stand in the first episode. You get that one free. It is fun spotting them!

Bump has to be my favorite fictional principal, and his development in the show is something I’ve enjoyed, so I was excited to see your reaction to this ep. It really broke his heart to keep Luz, Gus, and Willow away. (Also, yes, Odalia is the worst.)

Odalia and Alador finally arrive. The Blight parents were already hated by people in the fandom before this episode thanks to things like Understanding Willow and Dana Terrace's AMA between the seasons, and then we got them here. Odalia's got huge helicopter mom energy going on. She wants to control her kids as much as possible. Amity's been listening up until Luz showed up. Still no excuse to get 3 kids expelled from school. The Lumity in this episode is so freakin cute. Up til now, the big joke was Luz was oblivious to the feelings that Amity had since she didn't seem to respond to them in Wing it Like Witches. Now they're blushing at each other and it's adorable.

Alador feels like a 'mad genius' type of character, such a contrast to how he seemed to be in the flashback from Understanding Willow. Maybe he's just gotten burned out over the years... I would be. From how easily he gets distracted, he also reads as neurodivergent. And speaking of neurodivergent characters... keep an eye on Lilith's tendency to seek out validation. She's fallen from her position of importance in society and immediately started acting like a teacher's pet towards a teenager. Sure it's comedic, and very sweet of her (I love how much of a nerd she is, it really feels like she had to suppress that side of herself for a long time) but there's also some interesting character implications that will continue to be relevant as the season goes on.

Eyy 2 episodes down, 2 bangers. I spent the whole season wondering when they were gonna break that streak. I love how much attention you pay to the soundtrack, Brad Breeck (who also did the gravity falls opening) does NOT get enough credit for this season, every episode has nearly full 20 minute soundtrack (that you can find on youtube in their entirety) with lots and lots of unique and honestly beautiful themes. I love that this was the first time we see Luz crush over amity, because it just makes sense. We've seen that luz gets flustered by the "Cool" types, like with Edric and Emira or that illusion guy from the second episode. So seeing Amity jump in front of a death machine for her, disrespect her mom, turn around and just ask "Luz, are you okay?" would totally make Luz see some things she didn't see before. Just a really well executed cute relationship growth that they've had over the past 20 episodes. And yeah, Alador is a surprisingly complex character, they really present him in a way that makes you question your own opinions about him. Looking forward to the rest of the season!

I'm glad you agree that season 2 just feels so much better. I wish the show could have found its groove sooner, not that season 1 was bad but man season 2 really knows what it wants to do and keeps everything running at full steam from start to finish. Also side note, did you hear the news that came out last night about HBO max? For some idiotic reason they are killing just about every animated show on their platform for "budget" and "because they want to move away from """kids"""" content", its literally about 20 shows. And whats worse is they announced it last night and the shows are being pulled in like less than a week. And not even the studios making the shows were given prior warning. It just doesnt make any sense and is pretty scummy it includes shows like Summer Camp Island, OK KO, Close Enough, and Infinity Train. Like why?

Season 2 has more action (and Hooty) because Season 3 got cut from a full season to just 3 44-minute specials, so the writers most likely had to make it a bit faster paced and even rewrite some stuff

Glad you like the Luz Amity relationship. That's why I strongly suggest that you give a look to the fan-made music animatic 'LITTLE MISS PERFECT' and its sequel 'ORDINARY'. The one who coposed those two songs did it for a project on his own that had no relationship to The Owl House but the fans of the show had 'appropriated' thoses songs since the lyrics fit both Luz and Amity so well that it,s hard to believe thew were not made for them. Both animatics explore the discovery of theirs respective gay feelings for each others and they deal with them. The songs are beautiful and poignant. Plus the hand-drawings are pretties and cutes. They are easy to find on youtube on the 'oh cramity' accout. You should really give it a try. And if possible, even make a reaction out of them. All Owl House fans love those animatics to death.

there were recent storyboard revels that some season 2 episodes had different endings But that the crew had to combine season 2 and 3 ideas in to season 2 so pacing changed also I have tpo get used to pre-puberty Gus every time I watch season one. The actor's voice changed so it can't be helped over all you are exactly where the fandom was when these 1st came out. All the same observations and same questions.

Now while I don’t know what happens past episode 8 of season 2, but up to that point, I have been pleasantly surprised with how much I have enjoyed it. Going into it I didn’t know what to expect but it has legitimately great characters, the humor is creatively placed, and the overall narrative is very interesting once it starts to pick up. And the character relationships and how they develop feel very earned. So yeah, I say give it a chance. It’s a slow burn for most of the 1st season, but the episodes are very entertaining regardless of that

This episode has a lot, so this going be a long comment. 1) Back in your reaction to Grom live chat, I mention that Amity fear was most likely rejection in general and not just rejection by Luz. This episode confirm it for this fact for me, because we see that Amity shut while facing grom, and here she shuts down in the principle office when Odalia mention upholding deals. What interesting is that Luz line about Amity being afraid of Odalia seemingly signals that Luz pick up on this as well, 2) Luz flaw that I mention in last episode comments pops up here with her saying that Willow and Gus dont deserve this, excluding herself in the sentence. Plus taking full responsibility to fix it when logically getting Eda would be the best bet, even if it just for advice on how to handle it. 3) While Luz had a crush on Amity for a while (to many example to list, but it started at some point in E7), this is when she realize it. And there so many small things that goes into it, from Amity saving Luz so soon after Eda speech in last episode, Amity jumping down heroically, and even Luz love of cape and Amity wearing one. 4) I personally find Alador just as dislikable as Odalia (though it took me probably 2 weeks to figure out why), and it all stems from the last line of his as well as his inaction. He doesnt stop the abomination despite being the maker of it and Luz made a deal with Odalia even when it about to kill Luz, showing he doesnt really care about the upholding part of the deal as he claims. Secondly, it appears he only care about the deal with Amity when she is shown to be growing stronger, which put huge pressure on Amity and make it seem like he only cares about Amity because she is so strong . Which also lines up with his line about Blights only associate with the strongest of witchlings in Understanding, indicating he cares only about power, while Odalia has all the lines that are about control. Anyway, all this to say that, Alador is just as bad of a person, and parent, as Odalia.

I have to disagree, to an extent, on Alador. He's definitely neglectful and not a good father. But I don't see him as being hypocritical about upholding deals. The deal between Odalia and Luz was that Luz be their assistant (target) for the duration of the presentation, after which Odalia takes back their expulsion. Luz survival isn't a factor in the deal. It's still terrible for him to just let his wife kill a child, much less his daughters friend. But he still immediately stood up once Odalia was directly going against the deal she made with Amity. TL;DR. Still a bad dad. But at least not a hypocrite PS: I personally always saw Aladors mention of Amity's strength as his way of quickly calming Odalia. But that's just my headcanon

So I just thought about this. The last episode season 2 has an Easter Egg hinting towards the end of Amphibia and it may spoil the show for you. Considering you’re much closer to the end of season 2 of this show than to Amphibia I’m not sure how that’s gonna work. If you don’t see this I’ll try to comment when you upload so you can have some sort of preparation

This has been pointed out to me before, and I’ve had a friend try to find info about this for me, but she couldn’t find a clear answer. Because if it’s going to spoil Amphibia for me, then I may have to delay Owl House reactions until I record the final episode of Amphibia. Without spoiling: is it a deal breaker if I finish Owl House first?

It’s a quick scene at the very end of the last episode. You should be able to skip it without too much getting in the way I would think. I do really enjoy your reactions to both of these shows and it would suck if you had to delay these reactions for a few seconds at the very end. In my opinion, just watch the season 2 finale up until about 24 minutes and 20 seconds, you get through most of the ending without spoilers for Amphibia.

But if you're really worried, when you briefly see Anne's face at the end of the episode, just don't read the text next to her. It's in like, the last ten seconds or something.
