Weird, the reactions are all over the place...violently kicks book out of her hands, ( stepbrother calmy stands watching ) sees demonic symbols appear on her face, book blows up, attacked by crows...Next scene - everyone standing camly chatting..🤔

Hmm, are those sunglasses Alison is wearing supposed to be reminiscent of 'Lolita'? It's also interesting to note that both actresses were of similar ages portraying much younger girls. Also, some of the incidental music seems similar to 'The Box of Delights' (which of course was a much later series).

Much better looking in my view. Gillian Hills is older than she looks in this. About 25 I think. She was in Blow Up from a few years before playing an aspiring fashion model who has a rather vigorous three way with David Hemmings and Jane Birkin. Curiously, although Blow Up was made only three years before this, it feels like it's from a different age. She's also in A Clockwork Orange (where she has another three way, as it happens). She is very attractive, in a dangerous sort of way. She seems to have given up acting a few years after The Owl Service.

It's a marvellous unsettling story, well adapted and especially compelling if you know the relevant Welsh tale "Math ap Mathonwy" from the Mabinogion. The television series is good except for Roger always running about in those unattractive shorts.
