My semi-educated guess would be VENOMOUS SNAKE BITE!!, that cripples( maybe just temporarily... or not). Snakes are on an owl's MAIN MENU!! ( I miss my buddy, H-owl Bundy!! 5.5feet wing-span. He moved 2 yrs ago. We looked for almost 2 years, then found him, 6mi SW!! BUT, now he lives in an uppity/affluent neighborhood( SERIOUSLY) and they call the law when they see us "trailer park trash" driving in their neighborhood. And even when I explained, they accused me of hunting to keeL, rather than to view/talk to H-owl Bundy!! We knew him for two years before he left, and he would often pause in a tree merely 10-15 yards from us( my wife&I) We miss H-owl Bundy!!
