$400.00 for a pair of electric snippers?! 🤯 Should have bought one of those cordless 18-in-one multi-tools with the plunge-cutting blade on it. It'd only have cost $150.00 to $200.00, and you'd be able to flush-cut all of those branches and roots out of your way. 😎👍

Just a suggestion from someone who has done this work for a very long time when I get a planter like that the quickest way to get that mess out is to take a battery operated Sawzall with a long blade you can run that blade right down into that crack between the brick and concrete it will slice through everything that mat will come free same inside the planter run it in the soil around any plant you want to remove it will cut all the roots and the plant just lifts out big time saver. Keep up the great work

Wow! This episode had everything! You climbing up on that slippery roof and nearly pitching off, an archeological dig in the backyard, what appeared to be you discovering an ancient Inca civilization hidden away under all that brush- I had no idea that landscaping could be so thrilling! Bravo! Those new clippers were pretty wonderful, too. I can’t believe how much brush and vines you have cleared.

You deserve to have a news article about what you are doing there. Its fantastic and a true battle between mother nature and man. It just goes to show how quickly mother nature will take over and reclaim a property if given the opportunity. We are merely visitors, as are our homes. You really are a good man and its great to hear the neighbour does what they can to help. After you have finished, it will make it so much easier for people to maintain the property. I hope you are getting plenty of donations. I don't have much but will see what I can spare.

I felt for you, up on that roof! The steepness of a hip roof is really deceptive... From the ground, it doesn't look all that bad -- but once you're up there, EEEK! I had to go up on my garage roof once; needless to say, I slid on my butt the whole time! (So much so, in fact, that I literally wore a hole in my shorts across both cheeks!)

Those power secs sure saved your arm. With the way the brickwork has been shoved by the vine's growth and the way they are growing out behind it might well have been an easier to demo the bed rather than chop all the vines since the bed is done anyway. You'd be able to see what they've been up to under the porch too. Still, this place is undergoing an epic transformation, there is a house in there afterall! Well done.

Oh Jason. I tell everyone that YOU are the safety guy with your protective gear etc. Should wear a harness on a roof climb. I know they are a pain but I had a good friend (a roofer) fall off a roof years ago. Popped up to grab a tool he had left up there and fell. Broke most bones in both legs and feet and some in his pelvis and hips. It was nasty. Please stay safe. Xx Brilliant job though. Can only imagine the tank is full of weeds. Those electric snippers are great.

Another Canadian here. You also do NOT want to plant Virginia creeper. >20 years ago when we’d just moved into our new-to-us home we looked outside in the fall and wondered why the cedar trees in the backyard were red. It was Virginia creeper, going up to 30 feet in the air and climbing down the other side! Took us forever to pull it all out. We had about 30 of the big orange garden plastic bags (yes, we could use plastic then!) to get rid of it all. It’s next to impossible to kill off the roots so it’s a constant battle to keep it from taking over the fences and cedars. BTW after a couple of years the cedars filled out and got a lot greener now they’re not competing for light.

You got through the crisis pruning of the brick flower box, you clambered on the roof and got the vining down, worked on the water tank...but the view at 26:40 is a bit daunting. We have a "Grime Line", of cleared walls and ground to the right and a new view of jungle, to the left. The area that ended up having planting beds and pots, was pretty amazing in that you managed to cut down the growth and refind the fence area and ground level. Your battery pruners were vital, much more so than we could have guessed.

Great work in progress, Jason. I knew there was a reason I hate vines! They grow so quickly and sneak through the smallest gaps. There will have to be a lot of work done on the roof as the vines will be in the roof cavity and under/through the eaves. It is so sad to see how Mother Nature can take over what was obviously a well loved family home.

What a job! You are amazing, I bet you sleep well after doing this all day! It’s so satisfying once you clear it all out though. We moved into a house that the previous owners had allowed Ivy to grow up and into the chimney and over the roof, though not as bad as this. We cut the Ivy off at ground level, cleared up to about 6ft then left the rest to die off in the sun. About 6 weeks later we were able to clear the rest off with no problems as it was really dry and withered. No problems doesn’t mean quick though! Took two of us two days to pull it all off. What a difference and hugely relieved to get it off the roof. This house is going to be so much happier without that Ivy blanket!

I dedicated my life to nursing and am retired now but love watching videos where others are helping other people. I love the battery operated pruning shears and ordered one for my husband for father's day. We have a bunch of crepe myrtle trees that are always needing pruning around the base of them as well as roses. My Doxie puppy runs to sit on my lap to watch your videos when he hears the sound of the machines... he's fascinated! Keep them coming and God bless you.
