You definitely hit what I have been struggling with in my life. Almost every "christian" around me has these pagan beliefs and don't even know it. And if feel like people aren't comparing truth to these things to equip us. We need more of THIS topic.

I notice that in today’s political climate, there’s a rising trend of tribalism that’s less about ideological labels like Christian nationalism, and more about ethnic and cultural identity shifts. This isn’t about Christian nationalism specifically, which can be a complex term sometimes defined in ways that feel unChristian or even morally questionable, but often it just refers to longstanding traditions that exist globally, not just in the U.S. Instead, what I’m observing is a shift where people are exploring spiritual identities tied to their ethnic backgrounds. For example, some Black Americans are moving away from Christianity, exploring paths like the Nation of Islam or even African ancestral and pagan practices. Among Hispanic Americans, particularly Mexicans, there’s a noticeable turn from Catholicism toward Aztec ancestral beliefs. While some criticize Catholicism as having pagan elements, I personally disagree with that label, despite my own differences with the Church. In other cases, segments of the feminist movement are drawn to Celtic paganism, while some in the alt-right ironically enough are rejecting Christianity as weak. They may support the idea of Christendom but are turning toward Nordic mythology, viewing it as part of their ‘Nordic heritage.’ It’s an interesting, if somewhat unsettling, phenomenon: a move toward spiritual identities defined by ethnic or cultural backgrounds, rather than a shared religious or moral framework

My husband is caught up in this. I hear “as above so below” so much. Piston Sophia stuff. So much other stuff all mixed in. He cherry picks the Bible but hates the God of the old testament and can’t see the hypocrisy. See himself as god and not a sinner. I don’t know anyone local who can help me.

Pert 2..... The phrase "as above, so below" originates from the Emerald Tablet, an ancient text that first appeared in Arabic in the late 8th or early 9th century. The phrase is a paraphrase of the second verse of the Emerald Tablet, which appears in Latin as "Quod est superius est sicut quod inferius, et quod inferius est sicut quod est superius". This translates to "That which is above is like to that which is below, and that which is below is like to that which is above". The original Arabic version of the verse reads "from" instead of "like to". The Emerald Tablet is a foundational text for Islamic alchemists. The Emerald Tablet is a mysterious, ancient text that was originally written in Arabic. Islam is Abrahamic, meaning, that phrase came from your side, not paganism. Hermeticism LONG predates the phrase and Islam. While acknowledging the potential for wisdom within Hermetic teachings, Islamic scholars are wary of practices that could be interpreted as "Shirk" (associating partners with God), which is strictly forbidden in Islam. Paganism isn't Gnostic. Stop equating the two. Mysticism, occult, all comes from the Kabala, which is Abrahamic. Druid, Celt, Norse, Native American.... ALL predate that. By THOUSDANDS of years. All you guys are doing is showing you didn't do any research at all. Dublin was founded by Norse Pagans. Pastoral Epistles (1 and 2 Timothy, and Titus) were not written by Paul. Their language, content.... They have certain passages within them seem to present slightly different instructions or emphases, particularly regarding the role of women in church leadership, which can lead to interpretations that appear contradictory depending on how the verses are read and interpreted in isolation. The theology of the Pastoral Epistles contradicts Paul's teachings in other letters. But at it's heart, anything written by or attributed to Paul was written to and for specific people, not Christianity et al. So using it here is misusing it. The Book of Enoch is canon in the Ethiopian Bible. Are you saying they're not Christian? It was part of the Protestant bible for a very long time. Colossians 2 addresses various false teachings which threatened the Colossian believers from within the church itself. He wasn't speaking of pagans. Taking a verse of "God's word" , removing context and forcing it to fit you narrative is in fact blasphemy. Ironic that it is a very common practice within Christianity. Neopaganism is rooted in the ancient religions of Europe, the Near East, and North Africa, but can also be inspired by indigenous religions of Africa and the Americas. Neopagans often believe in pantheism, which is the worship of all gods in the pantheon of human civilization (not polytheistic). Neopagans often draw on traditional folklore to create rituals. It also incorporates syncretism. There, I answered it for you since neither of you guys or your guest actually know the subject. Samhain (Sauin, for example) is strictly Celt. As far as the whole "We don't really know...", yeah, we do. Practitioners of paganism have been here this entire time. We never left. So you pulled from a biased source for your definition because it "felt right"..... ugh..... As far as Phil... pulpitandpen.org/2019/01/25/i-am-saddened-that-phil-johnson-has-to-be-corrected/ "...practically impossible..."..... really? I just did it above. So, he invented his own definition. Okay. Paganism (from classical Latin pāgānus "rural", "rustic", later "civilian") is a term first used in the fourth century by early Christians for people in the Roman Empire who practiced polytheism, or ethnic religions other than Judaism. "The notion of paganism, as it is generally understood today, was created by the early Christian Church. It was a label that Christians applied to others, one of the antitheses that were central to the process of Christian self-definition. As such, throughout history it was generally used in a derogatory sense." - Owen Davies, Paganism: A Very Short Introduction, 2011 Neopaganism The overarching contemporary pagan revival movement which focuses on nature-revering/living, pre-Christian religions and/or other nature-based spiritual paths, and frequently incorporating contemporary liberal values. More accepting and welcoming. (SO difficult to define......) Paleopaganism (what I practice) A retronym coined to contrast with Neopaganism, original polytheistic, nature-centered faiths, such as the pre-Hellenistic Greek and pre-imperial Roman religion, pre-Migration period Germanic paganism, as described by Tacitus, Viking Age and prior Norse beliefs, or Celtic polytheism as described by Julius Caesar. Also Proto-Indo-European mythology. Mesopaganism A group, which is, or has been, significantly influenced by monotheistic, dualistic, or nontheistic worldviews, but has been able to maintain an independence of religious practices. This group includes aboriginal Americans as well as Aboriginal Australians, Afro-Diasporic faiths like Haitian Vodou, Santería and Espiritu religion. Various forms of Reconstructionist...East Asian religions... Animism... Dharmic religions... Thracian religion... Slavic paganism... and on and on and on... In short, it's a rabbit hole none of you are even remotely equipped top understand. All of the above is from only 8 minutes of video.... wow......... Friedrich Nietzsche was an atheist. Not a pagan. Yeah, your "definition" of Neopaganism is COMPLETE GARBAGE. "I don't come to you guys as an expert in anything..." is a VERY accurate statement from you.

The contemplative prayer/spiritual formation movement is gaining traction in the church today. The church needs to be very discerning and discriminating when it comes to teachings today.

Real Christians are both spiritual and religious. So are real Pagans. I'm really uncomfortable with things like gender pronouns sometimes... But i ask myself, what does one so to break through the bridge of loving your neighbor? We share this value. And not all pagans are "neo pagan".

Many video games that kids grew up/are growing up on have strong connections to paganism/gods/demons. Players get to live vicariously through their god-like characters. This might be a contributing factor to the rise in paganism we're seeing. I personally know a good number of people who use crystals, tarot cards, meditation, etc, and a few who openly call themselves witches

Interestingly (and sadly), several friends' children who grew up on these types of games now consider themselves somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum.

It's simplistic and basic, but humans generally views things in terms of what they can and cannot do. People try and escape something every way they can, denying they have any master or should listen to any authority. It just seems the culture is ripe for any superstition or thing by which they feel they have control, which requires power.

Western rituals of holidays in the western world are rooted in paganism. Pagans brought trees into their homes and decorated them on Dec. 21st. They set up decorated oiles of long ribbons in spring amd decorated amd gifted eggs etc. this is rooted in our culture. Christians celebrate their holidays in My traditions. Our scripture tells the same story and gifts the same morals. Why do we all fight so much over what's clearly belonging to is all.... We need to talk. If you want to talk about my faith find one of us to join you. I volunteer.
