This movie has a strange energy to it. Very captivating. It felt like a much longer movie when I was a kid, but now it feels too short.

I have a couple of theories about that. We see a lot of horror and a lot of adventure. But when they first enter the fantasy section, they don't show a lot. We see mother goose and Humpty Dumpty, and the dragon. But I feel that section had a lot of potential that was either edited out at the last minute or changed because of something else. Most movies are cut for time or content. "Look, it's Mother Goose!" "Hey guuurrrrlll!' Love that line. Hahaha.

They could've shown what story the dragon was from instead of it just being some random being in the fantasy section.

Same with me. No waite I'm still a kid at heart. It does have a strange energy but a classic. And it definitely could have been on longer. MaCauley Kevin Home Alone Culkin is one great young brilliant fantastic very good Actor. He becomes the Characters he plays in all films he is in and he dosnt waste no time. I mean just look at what he did to those poor Wet Bandits. If you want a full proof home security system just call Kevin to get full instructions and everything you need to keep out those Wet Bandits. Christopher Loyed I'm a great fan of from when I first seen him in the old television classic series TAXI. Page Master is and always will be a real true classic film. I was also hoping to see where the Dragon came from. Look at the year this film was out and think now with all the brilliant great fantastic Computer CGI Special effects graffics up to date in 3 D. If this was made with all of that and a very young Boy look alike for Young MaC. It would be a smash hit.

@@JoeManzaI don't think so. The 'villains' including the dragon were simply giving Richard a secret test of character to see if he faced his own fears. When Richard 'defeated' Long John Silver, the latter surrendering in agreement foreshadowed that he was merely helping Richard to prove he was courageous.

One of the most amazing memorable defining pop cultural cross reference scenes in movie history just like Invasion of the Tinysauruses when Richard Tyler's library card fluttered down from the sky by his side and a single pink cherry blossom petal fell from the tree which lands on Littlefoot's face and faints. And the Pagemaster himself returned him from this illusionary mystical fantasy magical out of this place world animated adventure he was in.

This part of the movie, inside the tower, has always felt like such a magical moment to me. The long journey, filled with danger and fear, has come to an end. And what the Pagemaster says is true, what good would a book be if you just skipped straight to the ending? You`d miss out on so much, characters, what they go through throughout the story and all the emotions that there is to experience. I think that might be what has made me love reading books so much. Be it both fantasy or books based on historic events.

a good moral of this story~what is life worth living if you automatically arrive at the end of the book. Life is an adventure, life is horror and life is filled with fantasy and magic. In life is the path of a journey and in the pages of that journey contains bravery/courage, love, loyalty, wisdom, horror….all the genres of a story hence the Pagemaster with what he says 😌 📚

A few points of continuity that implies that Richard's adventure wasn't "just a dream"... At the start of the movie when he first slips on the floor, he was wearing his yellow jacket. Here, at the end, it's nowhere to be found (he shucked it off after the green paint had dripped on it). The obvious one: Adventure, Fantasy, and Horror fall down with him and are still lying next to him when he wakes up. His library card is in very rough shape. Considering he'd gotten it relatively recently, that really shouldn't be possible. And one that's probably just a slight oversight, but I'm still counting it: his body is positioned so his head is about 2 to 3 degrees closer to N on the compass than when he first slipped.

All these three characters are highlighted and congratulating Richard, and this movie makes them look like they're the main characters....but none of them are the main characters in their stories. The main protagonist in "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" was Gabriel John Utterson. The main protagonist in "Moby Dick" was Ishmael. Being a kid was having this movie as one of your favorites. Being an adult is still enjoying the movie, and realizing the amount of talent that was involved

I don't understand why Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert dislikes this movie. I absolutely love it. The VHS intro at the beginning of Once Upon A Forest introduced me to this movie growing up

I'm gonna tell you guys a story about a bad movie experience I had and how James Horner's music helped me through the ordeal and get untraumatized. I had a traumatic movie experience with 4 movies. The first movie was The Stepfather (2009), the trailer traumatized me cause I thought Amber Heard's character was gonna die but when I watched the movie she didn't. Then it was Hostel Part II the part where Bijou Phillips' character was tortured, then Us (2019) the Tyler's deaths scene and finally It Came From The Desert the swimsuit striptease scene. As a result of watching these 4 movies I was afraid to watch new movies but then I mustered the courage to watch Watership Down and to my surprise it didn't traumatize me like the four movies did and my confidence was restored. Then one fateful night I had a nightmare with Us. After I woke up I became obsessed with Us and I wanted to watch it again and I was thinking about it, I imagined James Horner's music in my head and so I rewatched the four movies and conquered my fears. After this I was no longer traumatized by the four movies.
