I’m not familiar with displate posters sorry. Look for pictures of signed displate posters online and maybe you’ll see what pens were used. Hope that helps.

I have a Gears of War 2 poster I will be getting signed this October by John Dimaggio. The poster material is thicker than normal. It has a holographic effect, and is is embossed. What would you recommend? I was thinking some sort of white marker. But unsure if I should go with paint, or regular sharpie. Really want the autograph to pop!

@@cesarcotto3351 depends on the material honestly. On glossy prints the orange doesn’t really pop. All trial and error. Learn from your mistakes.

I have a question that I hope you guys know the answer to. I have a Halloweeen III poster pretty heavily autographed, and I went ahead and got it linen backed. It's the best way to preserve posters/art. With that being said, now that it's been linen backed, I don't know if that changes what type of marker/pain pens work on it best. I was told I can still get it autographed after it's been linen backed, but was not told which marker/paint pen works best. Do either of you have any ideas? Thanks

Thanks! Acrylic Paint Pens, These pens are designed specifically for use on canvas. Oil-based paint pens are another option for canvas boards. They provide a more opaque and glossy finish compared to acrylic pens. However, they take longer to dry. Which convention!?

@@speltier1965 if you are nervous about a paint pens, you can always go with a sharpie. Sharpies tend to fade after time though. If you have an old LP you can test different pens on it just for testing purposes.

@@MarkoDaničić-f5r great question, I’ve never gotten a guitar signed before. I would think an oil based paint pen should work well. I see online some say go with Sharpies. 🤷🏽‍♂️ do you have a guitar you can test pens with? Hope that helps sorry, not an expert on guitars.

I recommend testing on a similar piece of whatever item you’re getting signed to find the results you like best. I haven’t tried on parchment paper to test, but I prefer the deco color, followed by the Molatow then sharpie. Same preference for wood. Hope that helps.

Blick is a great store, i go to the on in Sacramento when i head over that way. i'd been hunting all over youtube for a video about pens since next year i'm going to either midsummer scream or monsterpalooza and will be bringing some 11x17 posters with me to get signed, i looked all over to see what pens to use for when i get them signed and couldn't find anything, it was driving me bonkers. next year will my first vacation solo so i wanted to make it count and do something i'd wanted to do for a long time, normally i go to the fanx con in san francisco but in june i went to sinister creature con in sacramento where i got my The Nun pop signed by Bonnie Aarons and my Neca Chucky doll signed by Alex Vincent

Great video 😊. I am always prepared with my own pens at conventions. I do not trust the pens on the table. I have seen so often bad quality of those pens. I also want to make sure that the autograph on the picture is well seen.

@@DUTCH.HORROR thanks for the question. Do you have an extra steel book you can practice on? My friend told me he has a dented steel book that he uses to try different pens on it. Poscas are water based I think and tend to scratch off easier. I would try a deco. Hope that helps.

i recently bought a few posca pens to use in a couple weeks at a convention but idk about the size. I bought the 5M tip size i was just curious what you use. I am getting a scream 24x36 poster signed what would you recommend for the paint pen size

The 3m is what I usually use on my albums. On a big poster you could use the 5m. It all depends on how they sign and if you want quotes. Those can take up a lot of space. If you check out my latest video you can see us using a deco paint pen and on albums and posters. Hope that helped 😅

So I watched the H45 video and I noticed a lot of people using white paint pens when previously such as in this video the can be hit or miss Has anything changed in terms of white paint pens? Do you have a recommendation for one? Or can I go ahead an assume Decocolor is still the king? Thanks

Nothing has changed really. Just the certain prints we had it worked really well. White on black background looks so good. It’s all preference really. We’ve been having really good luck with Deco white lately. Maybe cause they were brand new and have not been sitting in our cases for a long period of time. That’s probably why. I recently met Sam J. Jones and he signed my original Flash Gordon movie poster. I originally wanted him to sign with a yellow paint pen but he was not comfortable in doing so as he said it would run and did not want my poster damaged. So he suggested in just using a black sharpie. I was kinda bummed but I understood his judgement.

Great video guys but something i should recommend to you guys as far as removing paint pen ink on items. I own and operate Lonestar Signature Service here in Fort Worth, Texas and Deco makes a DecoRemover that works like magic. It literally will wipe the paint off like a dry erase marker. It only works on Deco brand paint pen’s and will not work on Sharpie or any others, trust me I’ve tested. But even if the paint is dry and been on there a year, you simply use the DecoRemover where you want it removed, not only for smudges or smears but personalizations that some celebrities do when signing….(cough..cuhhh cuhhh Corey Feldman) it takes it right off. I’ve found running the Deco remover across the paint you want removed then using a q-tip to clean up the area removed works best. No after residue. It’s a must have in your arsenal. I’m surprised you guys don’t have one or discussed it in your video. Anyway hope I was able to share and turn you on to something very valuable in our world of autograph collecting. @@Fonso13 did he require the personalization? Yeah man, as far as the Deco get you one and test that sucker out on some junk stock. You will absolutely be amazed. It’s saved my butt on a few pieces, or saved my items. So I try to use Deco most of the time since it will only work on Deco products. You would think Sharpie and all the other brands would have jumped on board by now and made one too. I’ve been using them a few years now, so not sure how long they’ve been around. But anyway take care fella’s and probable see ya at Frightmare if you’re going this year?
