The crunchiness is not from the nib, it's the paper, doing something that I think in English is called pilling. It's the paint in Posca and similar pens kind of dissolving the paper and then ripping it. So the chunks are paint soaked paper fibers. They don't respect nice paper, they just monch it until enough layers protect the paper. XD Pens with more true acrylic properties, like the Liquitex ones, does this less. Those kinds are more like liquid plastic that becomes completely waterproof when dried and shields the paper from the moisture and nib scratching. Poscas are not completely waterproof and can be reactivated, so those first layers where they destroy the paper are a pain. They really work easiest when used on top of real acrylic markers or regular paint on paper.

I don’t think so at the moment unfortunately. Having said that, I’ve been using mine for about a year now and they’re still going strong! The nibs seem to be made of plastic, so they’re pretty durable and can’t fray or anything like that!

Question: how did they stand the test of time. LIke you put them down for a month and tried to use them. Did they dry up beyond recognition like a gel pen?

I still have them and for the most part they still work really well after a good shake! There's definitely one or two with clogged nibs though, which can be a bit of a pain to get cleaned out. I recently did a video on Grabie acrylic paint markers and found that I liked the consistency a lot better. I just haven't had them long enough to say whether they end up the same as the Artistro paint markers over time.

I love the artwork it is so amazing!! I’ve got a question about the pens: do you think they could work well to color on printed photographs ??(on classic photography paper and on like Instax photo film) I’ve never drawn on pictures before, but I wanted to start a scrapbook so I’m looking for a good alternative to poscas Tysm!!

Thank you so much 💕 I think they’d be perfect for that sort of thing! You might need 2 coats, but they layer really well and should go down on glossy paper just fine. My only concern is that it could scratch off over time, but you’d have to be pretty rough with it for that to happen. If they’re staying in a scrap book they should be pretty safe!

Not a pro, but I think you just need to get smaller sizes of POSCA next time. I own some myself and they have the same nib as these artistro paint. Never experienced smth like you with them being chapped or anything - I just know that you have to remember to let layers dry before putting on another one. Still, this is a great alternative, and it's nice to see something just as good, maybe even better, without costing so much.
