The Voyager I took a photo of the Earth, the pale blue dot, as Carl Sagan called it, on its way out of the solar system... It was supposed to give us humans a perspective on how important that pale blue dot was... so small, so insignificant in the immensity of the cosmos, and yet the only home we have and probably the only home we will ever have... but we didn't learn... or at least I think we did not... Here is the lyrics I wrote. I hope you like it...
The Pale Blue Dot (PB)
We flew into the white stain in our darkest night
We left our prints of pride in its old dusty soul
We painted our dreams on its steep craters’ walls
We praised the Lord and promised
This will make a better world
We poured them like sand on shores they couldn’t stand
No longer children not men as yet
They stained rivers red many a mother a heart black
We praised the Lord and promised
This will make a better world
We spat a drop of hope to race the wind of the Sun
I was nine then and now white hair is many more than one
The ship looked back at the pale blue dot
We praised the Lord and promised
This will make a better world
Death crept in from afar and broke our money jar
Swallowed millions of tomorrows, no farewell to heal the sorrow
No kiss no touch no hugs only eyes to go by
They praised the Lord and promised
This will make a better world
But they didn’t paint their dreams on the full moon canvas
They did’t even know about the pale blue dot
They followed a prick with an orange wig
They praised the Lord and promised
This will make a better world
John Henry did not hammer their way to the light
Even the ghost of Tom Joad was too tired to fight
The fools marched ahead as sheep to the slaughter house
But they smiled to their phones and shouted
This will make a better world
It sure felt like a dream for our eyes refused to see
The pale blue dot was now a tale of a different dream
Ashes of hope falling on rivers that ran dry
They kneeled to the Lord for mercy
But he was moulding smarter Adam and Eve
