Really lovely, Mr. Pascal. Startin to hear the angels now in America. Let's hope they keep singing.... And you're right, this is a good song and I didn't know Jeff D. was a good songwriter. You do this song great justice my boy!

Just listened to this again Pascal. I think it's perhaps your most beautiful cover, which is saying a lot. It just slays me when I hear it. Gonna learn to play it so I appreciate the camera facing the fretboard. Standard tuning?
@bluespascal36497 ай бұрын
Hi Anne, your comments are so flattering and encouraging. Thank you so much! this piece is easy to play in terms of chords, but a lot of emotion goes into interpreting it. At least that is my feeling of it. The droning sound of the song is provided by the drop D tuning. if you have questions let me know. I’d love to see your cover of it.
@anneberkeley74117 ай бұрын
Hey Pascal, thanks for the info. Don't record myself yet though, especially now when I'm recovering from hand surgery! You say "a lot of emotion goes into interpreting it." Can you jot some thoughts on how you interpret emotions in a song? This seems to be your great gift--what makes you a musician, not just a guitar player.@@bluespascal3649

Great cover of one of my favorite Bob tunes. How did you figure out the chords in this arrangement? What's the guitar tuning?
@bluespascal36499 ай бұрын
Thank you! The song is in open D tuning... I heard that Bob was playing it in this tuning and I figured out how to arrange it with the standard 1-4-5 chords but played in open D. BTW: it is basically the same kind of playing and chords as in "Simple Twist of Fate", in the same album. I have planned to make a cover of it in the next few days...

I don't know why I've never heard this before, thank you very much. I would like to point out that people who claim the Christ was a god are distorting his teachings. He never claimed any such thing. 🙏 He never once asked to be worshipped, he asked that people obey his father's laws, and then he consolidated the ten commandments into one perfect commandant, known as the Golden Rule. He understood that if you obey that one rule, you have the ten commandments covered.. Pure, compassionate genius.

Beautiful rendition! The Rolling Stones made a cover of this song and they called it Prodigal Son but the lyrics are different.
@bluespascal3649 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Actually also prodigal son is a song by the same reverend, who recycled the music but changed the lyrics and made the song much longer. That song was covered by the Stones who did not acknowledge that the song was by Reverend Wilkins, and they were sued for plagiarism and lost.
