I only have one comment to those who wish Israel gone. If Israel is not allowed to exist, then neither shall Pakistan. Pakistan was created the very same year Israel was, only Pakistan was created on the premise that the Muhammadans did not like Hindus and wanted a separate nation for themselves. The powers that be at the time agreed to this because they thought it would prevent a civil war on the Indian subcontinent. But only 6 days after its foundation, Pakistan declared its first war on India and have quite a few times done so since. Yet I don't hear anyone chanting from the Bengal to the Kush, Hindus don't beat around the bush.

I totally agree, and this is what I used to say. Pakistan is somehow a good reference point, as it was a multicultural, multireligious state with essentially the same people and same culture as india. While india became an economical powerhouse with a robust democracy, where even the muslim population grows, Pakistan is somehow the pinnacle of the islamic project, with brutal mistreatment of minorities (was 20% hindu 75 years ago!!, now 1-2 %), and even muslim minorities (shia, ahmadiyya) are outlawed and persecuted, and just a failing state

There are very few true Arabs in Palestine. Most of them are a mixture of the original descendants of the Canaanites (Israeli, Phoenicians, Judahans, Moabites, Samaritans, etc.) and Egyptians. A good deal comes from neighboring countries like Iraq, Persia etc. and from North African countries. A small fraction are descendants from Bosnians who came to the region under the Ottomans and under WW2. From a historical, cultural, and genetic perspective it is completely absurd that they think of themselves as Arabs.

On this subject, I heartily recommend a track I discovered by accident (it appeared in my 'recommended' feed) by a British band called UNIT. The track is A Tribute To The Israeli Defence Force and it is excellent - tuneful and forceful without being bombastic combined with a lovely lyric. I know next to nothing about the group but on investigation I see they've recorded a whole batch of Jewish related tracks such as Pesach, Yom Kippur, Bar Mitzvah, Israel Is Real, The 613 Mitzvot and probably others I don’t know about yet. Some of them feature Rabbi Moshe Bryski which is definitely a recommendation in itself.
