I'm 64 and I've lived in South Jersey my entire life and I'll NEVER forget religiously watching Big 5 games on the television Friday nights during the late 60's-early 70's. I remember the build-up for weeks when Calvin Murphy's Niagara squad came to town. What an era to be alive if you're any kind of basketball fan. The Palestra was/is an incredible venue for the sport.

That period back in the 60s and 70s was awesome. I remember watching so many games on tv and several in person as well. One thing this documentary misses is talking about all the great high school games that were played there. It was not as important as the college games (of course) but still an important part of the building's history.

I toured and photographed the old historic college basketball arenas in the 1990s and the Palestra vibe struck me more than Hinkle, Cameron, and Cole Field House combined.

The Big 5 might not be the same but there are still great moments in the Palestra like this high school game from February 2024... kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWKzlYV4gMugeKs
