Yep exactly ...scoring 24 points should be more than enough ...giving up those 14 points at the halfs was a big indicment of the defense

Clowney i would've wanted in his prime BUT he is older and probably should be a rotational player anyways and he would be more effective with a 4-3 defense. I am sick of the 3-4, it doesnt work for us!! Our defense took a bit losing Luvu and burns even though im not a huge fan of burns and on top of that brown out all season. Why is leota on practice squad im still wanting to know. Its ridiculous , he needs to be a starter asap

I do not like the 3-4, I'm use to the 4-3, that's what the panthers have traditionally have used. I didn't like it last year and still don't like it. If we had a d that was a top 10, this team with Andy would be pretty good.

Yeah a lot of people don't realize, the very base definition of a 3-4 defense makes it a bad defense against the run no matter the personnel. The line backers aren't even lined up to stop it. It's better fit against the pass but if Panthers offense isn't ahead by 2 scores, the opposing team won't need to pass.

D-line is the issue at the moment. Can't stop the run, can't pressure the QB.

When players start moving from team to team you are then betting on potential. Best to avoid them unless you are maybe their 2nd team and it was a cap move. If they were any good they wouldn't be available.

Defensive personnel has been sus to me since this offseason. Not really much you can do with zero pass rush. Our secondary is decent at times but overall this defense is just mid. Which sucks because we finally got our offense together and now defense is behind🤦🏾‍♂️ I’m just ready to see complimentary football for once in Carolina

If we had that 2021 defense with this offense we would def make a deep playoff run but I am still confused on the Eku Leota deal he was such a good TFL demon and if he could start he would most definitely be the next Brian burns but we had to let him go

Yeah but we wouldn’t have been able to make the offensive line signings we did if we resigned Brian. To build the offense it took losing them. Which I think Damien and Robert are going to be major impact signings in the long run for us. I hate losing Brian and especially Frankie but with a more competitive offense we can actually compete once a team scores more than 14 points.

I don't remember his exact words. But when asked about the DLine during training camp, Julius Peppers was not very optimistic. Sucks but I was hoping 1 guy would surprise us all, and instead we lost the most important piece week 1. They have zero depth.

D Brown is only most important in stopping the run. But newsflash, in a 3-4 scheme, the run can't be stopped. We saw this last season when he didn't miss a game. Had 100 tackles and still gave up 100+ yards on the ground. By design, 3-4 is better against the pass. Against the run, it sucks because all the LBs are lined up out of place and have assignments...which benefits the other teams RBs.

I mean what did we expect? Clowney is in the later part of his career and isn't that good. He had sacks last year on a loaded Ravens defense and our defensive talent sucks and we don't blitz. If Panthers fans are expecting things to change when Woonum is back I've got news for you , it won't. Need to trade back in next year's draft and find some impact edge rushers then.
