This is my 6th Father's Day as a 'Papa' to my children (well, 7th if you count the one right before my daughter was born?). They have taught me so much. First, I didn't really know how much fear they would bring - fear that something would (and always could still) happen to them. It's a constant struggle that I hope I have for the rest of my life . Second, exhausting they are - but like in a way where you look back and feel joy from that. It's hard to explain, but I suppose it's like anything that is hard but you're proud of. Third - regret. I sit here, now, writing this, with them upstairs playing without me. I should be with them. Or the moments I'm on my phone, not playing with them and recognizing it. I try to do better, but somehow, I never really feel like I do well enough. Fourth, joy. I don't think there's really any greater joy than my kids. They are my greatest source of joy. Fifth, and finally, that it all goes away too fast. Watching my mom and dad pass away in front of my eyes (it was peaceful - but tragic all the same) - I saw all the love and memories just slowly wiped from them. I have those memories, but aging comes so fast, and I can see my kids growing up faster than I'd like them to. Aging just felt 'easier' without kids. I don't know. There's nothing you can do, but then your brain reminds you - they will some day be my age, then someday be older like my parents were when they passed, and they will be in the same place. Hard to comprehend, but I guess I still sit there and think about it.
I don't know much in life - but I do know that my kids are the most important part of it. So, Happy Father's Day to any other father out there. And really to any person who is in that role... I like to tell my wife that Father's Day is meaningless without her.

MIDERA, Thank you for your touching words. You know, I also lost my father a few years ago and if i play some beautiful Notes like you it’s like crying in the Rain. It hurts a lot but at the same time it is so liberating to express myself with my Music. I can feel that pain if i listen to your Notes too. Not everyone can connect with others through their music. That is a gift. So thank you for this moment ✨ ..and Happy 6th Fathers Day!

Hey - sorry to hear about that. It's not easy, and yeah, days like today can be tougher too. I haven't had my dad since 2010. I saw him that last year on Father's Day - and I remember it quite vividly. At the time, I didn't think it would be the last time I would see him cognizant, although I think deep down I did and just 'kept it together' for my sibling. The next time I saw him, he was on his deathbed and couldn't really hear me, although... something strange happened. I remember talking to him, alone, giving my goodbye - telling him some things - and... he frowned. It was kind of crazy. I think he heard what I was saying. Because he frowned at a moment I think would have made sense to frown. Anyway, I... hadn't thought about this in a long time. But yeah, just doing the best for my kids now, as my dad would have wanted me to do. Thanks for the kind words. Take care.

Hey thanks! I hope so too :) but if they only remember me by knowing how much I love (or loved) them, then that would be enough for me.

You made that moog sit so well in the mix. Something I always struggle with. What did you use?
@MIDERA
@MIDERA 20 күн бұрын
Maybe it's just the added reverb? I forgot to add that I used Strymon El Cap as well... not sure if that made it 'sit better' in the mix or anything though. Otherwise, I guess I just had the moog set in a really low cutoff sort of way so it just has less depth? I'm not sure.

@@MIDERA there’s something about guitar pedals.. I can’t do that with a plugin
@MIDERA

I usually only use Eventide blackhole VST, which is a plug in, and it helps a lot. The El Cap is nice, but usually I have it off because it messes with the Minimoog sound.

@@MIDERA very cool have never heard that plugin. I have the H9 max but don’t like to use it because don’t like committing to effects

Yeah, that makes sense. I just let it happen if it sounds good. But the eventide blackhole VST is great, and often on sale for $30. Hard to argue with that price IMO.
