I remember years ago asking my father how it felt to move the icons in his life. I'm 47 years old and while I have lost several myself I know there is only going to be more

What saddens me most about West's passing was that the Lakers failed to reconcile with him before his death...

I remember Game 7 of 1962 Finals in Boston. Baylor & West was Lakers combo and they had last shot.... Game tied 100-100 with 5 sec left.... Mr Clutch was sure to take last shot... BUT Frank Selvy took last shot and missed.... and green goons started a dynasty (with hated cigar guy).... Mr Clutch RIP.... good day sammy

Jerry West was a giant as a player, a GM a human.

I'm 65 yrs old and grew up in the L.A. area. Jerry West was my boyhood hero. He was the heart and soul of the Lakers. A classy and humble gentleman. Still watch as many Lakers games as I can every yr only now it's in color instead of black and white.

I feel the same way. He's been part of my entire life since he played. Lifetime Lakers fan and the best GM in NBA history. His autobiography was poignant and must read.

The admiration and appreciation people want. They will only get after they are gone. Go live your life now. You will never feel the love that you deserve. It sadly comes when you are already gone.

First I was sad, then, because I don't like being sad, I started thinking eff HBO and eff the shjtty Buss kids. It's 11 rings. We don't get those last 2 without Jerry West. He's the best manager in the history of sports. The Lakers got 10 rings and 16 final appearances in 31 years because of him. I also used to get to see him sucking on a towel at the pyramid summer league games when almost no one went to the summer league. He loved basketball. I love him.

They need to retire Jerry West's jersey #44 from the NBA just like they did Bill Russell's jersey.

I saw Jerry play, I should point out that the rules regarding assists was changed after he retired, hence the lower numbers in the early years. Jerry played PG after his first few years. A lost fact Jerry was the fastest/quickest player in the league, Jerry was so good on defense that teams would practice 2-1 fast breaks. Jerry career averages 27 ppg, 7 apg, 47%fg. I would argue where Jerry should be ranked as pg/sg. The league should retire his #44.

Jerry West had the longest arms for a white guy ever. Best defensive minded all around player ever. Offensively he did not have a signature move it was all super competitiveness to get it done offensively,.

I was denied by him when the Lakers came to San Diego as I was waiting by the locker room path. I was in middle school and personally held it against him since it was just me at that moment. He told me if he gave me an autograph he’d have to give everyone else one. It’s a good thing I got over it right 😜.

I just became a fan of coach Joe for his answer in the press… Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla is asked how he felt about the royal family attending a game. Coach: “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph?” Reporter: “The Prince and Princess of Wales.” Coach: “No, I only know one royal family. I don’t know too much about that one.”
