The Passing of the Elves + Sindarin and English Subtitles
The Lord of the Rings - soundtrack by Howard Shore, poem written by J. R. R. Tolkien
Both Versions:
A mix of the common version of the song that is heard in "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" with a different version I found (Performed by Vineeta Moraes)
Some beautiful pictures selected for the video as well.
I OWN NOTHING Neither the music nor the pictures. I just mixed them all up.
All thanks to Tolkien, Howard Shore, and New Line Cinema (and Vineeta Moraes).
ENJOY!

Everytime I listen to Mr Shore's music to this trilogy I simply think this man has seen things, or been to places beyond our understanding. This doesn't feel like a soundtrack or music, doesn't feel like it has been gnawed on, written, thougt of, it all feels like music of authentic people and cultures. Like a history that really existed. Wish prof .Tolkien lived to hear this.

This is PURELY AMAZING. Not only the performance of the work, but also the fact they have translated the first verse of the poem - it was NOT in Sindarin in the original work by JRR Tolkien, it was in English. Regardless of what one thinks of Jackson's movies on JRR Tolkien books, this is a true contribution to the Tolkien community.

Quenya is more lyrical and open-sounded, and does not have many consonant clusters. Typical Quenya words are quessë, namárië, laurëa, alassë. Quenya was based on Finnish, a language that Tolkien considered the most beautiful language according to his taste. Sindarin is a "hard" language. Consonant clusters are favoured and are found at the beginning and end of words (which is not allowed in Quenya). Typical Sindarin words are genediad, morn, aglareb. Sindarin is more Gaelic based.

Also, you might be interested to know that the English translation in this video is actually Tolkien's own and it appears in the Fellowship of the Ring. It's not a completely literal translation as it's been versified so that it rhymes in English but it's still pretty good :)

@@efaristi9737 Yes, Thingol did forbid the Quenya in his lands, but other Ñoldor (for example those in Hithlum) that did not necesearly agree with what were the Feänor’s sons doing, stopped speaking quenya because they were ashamed and they didn’t want to be anyhow associated with the Feänorians. And then it became tradition that lasted all the way to the third age and Quenya only became something like “elven latin”. Nobody spoke it in a normal conversation. It became language of books and official stuff like high councils and so on.

@@efaristi9737 The Vanyar also speak Quenya, but the Falmari in Valinor speak Telerin (also called Lindalambë). In Middle-earth it would be only Noldorin elves speaking Quenya, though, and likely not very many by the Third Age. For sure Galadriel and Elrond are speaking Sindarin every day, though Galadriel would have been raised to speak Quenya and almost certainly Telerin, and Elrond to speak probably several elven and mannish languages by his half-elven parents and then the Noldorin Maedhros and Maglor.

It's 100% Sindarin. Things like "calad-galad" are because of the lenition (a feature brought by Tolkien into Sindarin from the Celtic langueages). That being said, Quenya is absolutely different and bears more resemblance with Finnish. Btw all of that is easily googlable.

Yep, the Orcs of Arda are just pitiful beings, not the true villains. Unlike Balrogs or Dragons, they never wanted to come into being to serve either Morgoth or Sauron or Saruman. They were enslaved and abused, which reminds us about brainwashing cults, totalitarian states (perverting the minds of the kids in Hitlerjugend or Komsomol, for example) or human traffickers, who force enslaved people to do various nasty things, eg. to serve as forced prostitutes. On the other hand, Orcs from World of Warcraft are another thing. They are something between a semi-intelligent Ape and the deamons from Hindu lore, Rakshasas. See how they are pictured: with long, disproportional fangs, overgrown lower jaws, long ears and green skin. It's a pity though that Tolkien didn't make use of original Goblins from English tales, who were some kind of local spirits, not purely evil, rather mischevious (if someone angered them) and beneficial at will (they could help humans as well). Tolkien's Orc is not a direct counterpart of English Goblin. A lot of creatures like those exist in various European mythologies, akin to Gnomes, Kobolds or the Skarbnicy (sing. form: Skarbnik), literally "The Treasure-Watchers" (in the miner myths from Polish, German and Czech parts of Silesia, for example)

While I've enjoyed playing the Warcraft games (usually on Humans' side), I consider the "World of Warcraft" movie to be one of the WORST movies ever. It seems to me that some directors and producers think that good effects make a good movie. Both the story, the acting, the dialogues and everything else in this movie is a CRAP. And not only Orcs are mindless in it, Humans seem to have no brains as well. I certainly do NOT advise anybody to watch this movie except for criticism.
