Gus, Lindsay and Ryan work really really well together as part of this podcast. Was a very good week I must say. I would still love to see an LP of DayZ, some of the moments that trying to meetup bring can be so exciting that it just might be worth it.

The Dota situation is: Someone by the name of Icefrog made a mod for Warcraft 3 called DotA (Defense of the Ancients). Valve hired Icefrog to make Dota 2, which moved the game into another engine. Then Valve and Blizzard got into legal issues over the name. Valve thinks that they own the Dota name because Icefrog works for them now, and Blizzard thinks they own it because it was initially created in their game. I think the fact checker would be a good idea.

Not actually entirely accurate. Icefrog didn't make the mod for Warcraft 3. He just modified it and made it popular...

Bradley Johnson He's the current developer of the mod, and he has been for a very long time. It's Icefrog who is part of Valve now, and the lawsuit concerning the Dota name was because of his involvement in the company. It doesn't matter if he actually created the mod, it's still relevant to my comment.

DayZ actually got changed a while ago in a patch where the standard mod lets you choose a location to spawn. Now would be the best time for a lets play. :/

The thing about Craig Ferguson is he never researches his guests or follows a set of pre-written questions like other late night hosts do. His show is supposed to be a mockery of the late night genera so he just plays everything by ear. Also all he knows is his middle school aged son loves the game so why not have its creator on his show to get brownie points? If it was awkward it was probably intentional, Craig seems to really get a kick out of playing awkwardness for laughs (not saying it's always successful, just that he enjoys it.).

Engine makes a big difference. I'm suprised icefrog had any right to make money off an idea that he only perfected, and did not come up with. Where's the credit to Eul or Guinsoo? The fact that he was the last to work on it shouldn't give him the right to take as his own material that was built up by the work of many people, working for no profit.

I have to (respectfully) disagree with Gus on the Craig Ferguson/Notch interview. Anyone who regularly watches The Late Late Show would know that's Craig's interview style. The whole "I don't care" and "this show is a sham" attitude is part of his schtick. And, if you really think about it, the whole segment was very self-deprecating for Craig, playing off the preconceived notion that he is too old and doesn't know anything about games or gaming culture. And Notch played it up as well. I think the interview was anything but awkward. Just two guys talking and eating chocolate. I think Gus is just being a little overprotective of a notable figure in his (often overlooked) community.

When you guys mentioned, more specifically I think Ryan did, nothing mattering in an expansion to WoW I instantly thought of Guild Wars 2. Things DO change and that dynamic event system they have in place is really cool and hope to see that in more future MMOs. Ironically I haven't played that game in a while as I've been playing Borderlands 2, GTA V and Bioshock Infinite to name a few. Great episode guys and gal.

I think they may have confused the update time on the 360 i have both the 360 and ps3 but on the 360 the game updates take like a few seconds yet on the ps3 some can take hours which is weird downloading games on 360 is ok but on the playstation still takes like twice as long

Craig is awesome, I've rarely ever seen him have a "real" interview and that's why he's one of late night's best. He just sits and talks with people instead of bombarding them with questions. The whole concept, from his pov, is to un-build what we've come to know as late night TV. Craig does a great job at this. That's why his interviews aren't the normal stuff you see, that's why it's awkward and that's why he has a robot skeleton co-host. When you take time to understand and watch this, you fall in love with the guy and what he does.

(not the exact quote, but close enough) I've never played FTL but that description reminds me a lot of Cloudberry Kingdom; I feel so accomplished every time I clear another one of those damn masochist difficulty levels but still know i'm never going to finish the story mode. when I played enemy within, I was surprised at just how few casualties I had. I had my team of six comprised of two MECs, two snipers, a heavy and a support. my one sniper, who I dubbed 'Katyusha' because she was russian, was my top soldier. One of the MECs my next and then it was kind of random. I had one casualty before the final mission, and that was my support when she got point blank oneshotted by a crit from a muton. I lost a MEC in the last mission, but it doesn't count any casualties there. and Katyusha, why was my genetically modified psionic badass, fearlessly ended the game for me by twoshotting the elder in one turn.

the Warlords of Draenor expansion is not that complicated to understand, you go back in time to stop Garrosh and the iron horde and it is a separate timeline so it does not effect the current Azeroth timeline at all.
