What a joke ~~ eligibility for parole after just ten, yes 10 years ! Not long enough ! It’s a real slap in the face for the parents and detectives who obviously worked hard to capture him ! It’s the same thing here in Australia ~~ police go through so much to find these grubs, they are sentenced, are let out on early parole, only to go on and commit another vicious crime. What happened to Truth in Sentencing ? They are given a set period of time in prison and they must serve it. Seems simple to me, obviously too complex for the powers that be !!! Rest In Peace Ardeth, rest until you see your family again. My condolences to her parents and family. 💔💔💔💔🇦🇺🇦🇺xoxox

I'm sure the 16yo witness felt so sorry that she didn't complete that 911 call. God bless her! Don't police check the alibis of suspects? Why bother to question them? This did not have to go on for so long giving him the opportunity to harm others. AND a pathological liar can easily pass a polygraph. This case should have been solved MUCH earlier than it was.

I remember this one, a woman's death was practically witnessed, but the witness didn't call for help. She just rode away hearing the scream, knowing what happening and not calling for help. I'll never understand.

Cynthiatolman. You're forgetting that all of us women are taught in these patriarchal cultures never to trust our own senses or ideas. She was probably picturing herself being told her information was no good, maybe even being told to stop bothering the police, or hung up on. Don't expect people brought up in patriarchy to know what to do in an emergency. Some will act in spite of all that. She couldn't.

WOW how could you hear a woman screaming and NOT do anything at all, until you hear she is missing the next day. I mean what did Ardith need to do, she was screaming for her life and the person just looked out for themselves. Not getting caught in the rain while a woman is murdered! All she needed to do was call the cops and tell them what she saw and heard. It's so very heartbreaking. I guess we are supposed to be grateful they said anything at all and verified the sketch, although they would have found him without her. With his Ego he just couldn't wait to be discovered and known for what he did... Sicko...

I really hate folks who don't intervene when a man is being forceful with a woman. I personally have made it my business when couples get physical. I tell them to stay put while I call authorities. Thank goodness they come within 5 minutes while I talk to them. I usually tell the guy that it's okay to argue because that is normal but once you get physical it becomes an assault.

A 40 year sentence does not seem long enough. Once released from prison at 40 years old, he could easily go out, and commit the same crime. While he was in prison, he could easily pick up tips how to become a more proficient killer. This person should have been given a life sentence. Without the possibility of parole.
