It's the first time ive ever heard Paul do an interview and the other members apart from Shaun and Bez.He seems to have a dry sense of humour but seems very calm. Sometimes you can develop a perception about someone without ever knowing them but he's a genuine nice guy. Im glad i saw the Monday's with Paul playing at v99 ,Betley farm Crewe, 2013 ,Sheffield academy 2015 had such a cool time. Will be missed but not forgotten.

Back in the 80's in Manchester we were spoilt for choice in terms of music. I play guitar and was really into the Smiths,Stone Rose's,inspiral carpets so on. I could never take to the Happy Mondays and their music back then. I have since started listening to the Happy Monday'sregularly. I actually did security at what is now known as the factory nightclub, originally it was intended to become a recording studio and that's when I did security there. On my first shift Shaun Ryder and Anthony Wilson came in to see how work was progressing,Shaun Ryder asked me who my favourite Manchester guitarist was, and I said it's Johnny Marr. Shaun started laughing,he shook my hand and said nice to meet you take care, great guy.

I had just started re-listening to Mondays and got a new appreciation for just how good they were as musicians. The live gigs from 88 to 90 were incredible, and still sound good today. Dated well. I was planning on going to see them again, then found out about him passing away. I couldn't believe it. I say, again, because i was at Glastonbury in 2000 but tbh, i cant remember much about it. No offence to any replacement but its big shoes to fill, doing the basslines for happy mondays, how horse used to do it.

Is great to hear Paul's story after all these years. After all without Paul there would have been no Mondays. The band were very press savvy back in the day, and worked out if Shaun and Bez play up to the scally image it would get them more headlines. Both are a lot smarter than they cracked on. Am sure the rest of the band were happy to play along with this at the start and take a back seat, but it did become the Shaun and Bez show when the band was a proper gang. Maybe Mark was a straight head but the rest of them were a proper crew. People should check out Gaz's podcasts. They are funny as fuck. Musically, Paul's bass was the driving force in the band. When you think this band changed music culture in England, that is a gigantic legacy Paul has left. Thank you for these podcasts Angela. Are very poignant now Paul has passed. The chemistry between you is so strong. Is a lot of love there. You can feel it thru the screen. Is so much love for Paul out there. He was a top man. RIP brother Paul ❤️
