I've been using this art many times from CQC and I've been experience reality versua expectation. reality if you have the killing art you have a will to survive . I use that many times in terms of worst case scenario not just fancy moves that art is applicable see to it that your willing to engage and dis engage in terms of the situation. Second, it’s not the fault of FMA to be famous more than your martial arts as the once practitioner of this before defeated Bruce lee in USA. Third, martial arts- all around the world share similar forms and kata with different way of execution. And because of our ancestors travel a lot so as your ancestors and other ancestors of different countries- Kung fu, Wing Chun, Kali, Arnis, Karatedo, Judo and your martial arts almost have technique similar of each other. I agree there is connection but it will never be originated from your martial arts. I rest my case.

I'm proud that FMA is being preserved thanks to our Bayani ancestors! Also, i saw a debate in the comments that Kali/Arnis was stemmed from India and the only martial arts that i could somewhat confirmed was influenced by India is the Philippines' Mindanao indigenous tribe called T'boli. They have this strangling offense using a tapis(a native tubular skirt or fabric used by both men and women) which, when i did my own research, is actually shared in Indonesia as well so.. yeah. Do your research first guys :"D

As a person who trained arnis when I was in elementary and some kali with my uncle, I can't argue that this tactics are really effective and practical against blades. But when it comes to disarming a person with a firearm, thats another thing.

the principle of the technique is there being shown. As to its effectiveness in real knife attack remains to be seen. In this demo kasi ay yung attacker ay "submissive attacker" but kung yung attacker ay in "controlled anger" ibang usapan na. In the end, it is up to the user of the technique kung magawa niya sa actual fight against an attacker using live blade, and not in a simulated fight.

it is not the style. it is the man behind the style. baka taga siyudad iyng humahawak ng kutislyo o itak at hindi pa niya naranasan mgsaksak ng puno ng saging o mag taga ng pilapil para amaglinis sa bukid o kaya mangahoy sa kakahuyan. iba ang instinct o situational awareness ng taong mula bata ay humahawak ng patalim dahilsa trabaho niya sa bukid o mangatay ng animal. iba naman yung humahawak lamang ng patalim dahil sa praktis. Hindi komo pabor kayo sa isang estilo ay akala mo na kung sino kayo mgsalita ng saksakan. baka hindi ka pa nakaranas masugatan ng itak o kutsilyo. masakit. huwag tayong masyadong mayabang.

@@codeofhammurabi1513 iba yung sanay sa paghawak ng kutsilyo o itak dahil sa pagsasanay . iba yung humahawak lagi na itinataga o isinasaksak yung patalim. sa palagay niyo yung walng alam sa arnis o kali ay yakangyaka niya ang taong marunong humawak ng itak at tumaga ng kahoy. May sentido kumon ang tao pagtumaga iyan ay hindi tulad ng may alam sa arnis o eskrima. pero kung may kasanayan konti yung taga bukid tungkol sa eskrima ay alam niya yung praktikal na paggamit ng patalim.

I remember sa Zamboanga Prison and Penal Farm and mga guardia dun natuto ng saksak priso sa mga priso doon. They learn the style of practical criminal knife fighting for survival. Mga priso kunin mo mga armas. makakagawa nanaman ng improvised weapon.and the usual killing strike is puncture. Slashing is to demoralized the opponent by inflicting open wound for profuse bleeding.

more of a theatrical performance than what can be expected in a real combat situation. anyway, i thnk the superintendent or any police officer will demonstrate their real technique otherwise they will be giving the potential criminals their combative skills thereby makin their technique less effective.. i believe that the PNP know more than what is being demonstrated in this video.
