This is a moving rendition. My Dad was 82nd Airborne and used the sing this at home, including the “Beautiful Streamer” part. Hearing it always reminds me of Dad, who’s been gone 25 years now. It also reminds me of an Army medic I used to work with at his secondary, civilian job. He worked at Fort Devens when it was the home of the 5th rangers. There was the occasional chute failure, but, the medics found no glee in gathering and scraping up remains. We are blesses to have our fine and courageous military, as well as our valued military allies, some of whom borrowed this song and made it their own.

Verse 1] He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright, He checked off his equipment and made sure his pack was tight; He had to sit and listen to those awful engines roar, You ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 2] "Is everybody happy?" cried the Sergeant looking up, Our hero feebly answered, "yes" and then they stood him up; He jumped into the icy blast, his static line unhooked, And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 3] He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock, He felt the wind, he felt the cold, he felt the awful drop, The silk from his reserves spilled out, and wrapped around his legs, And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 4] The risers swung around his neck, connectors cracked his dome, Suspension lines were tied in knots around his skinny bones; The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the ground. And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 5] The days he'd lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind, He thought about the girl back home, the one he'd left behind; He thought about the medic corps, and wondered what they'd find, And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 6] The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild, The medics jumped and screamed with glee, they rolled their sleeves and smiled, For it had been a week or more since last a 'chute had failed, And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 7] He hit the ground, the sound was "SPLAT", his blood went spurting high; His comrades, they were heard to say "a hell of a way to die!" He lay there, rolling 'round in the welter of his gore, And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more [Verse 8] There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the chute, Intestines were a-dangling from his paratroopers suit, He was a mess, they picked him up, and poured him from his boots, And he ain't gonna jump no more [Chorus] Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, Gory, gory, what a hell of a way to die, He ain't gonna jump no more

李旭珩 The 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, commonly known in mainland China as the June Fourth Incident (Chinese: 六四事件, liùsì shìjiàn), were student-led demonstrations in Beijing (the capital of the People's Republic of China) in 1989. More broadly, it refers to the popular national movement inspired by the Beijing protests during that period, sometimes called the '89 Democracy Movement (Chinese: 八九民运, bājiǔ mínyùn). The protests were forcibly suppressed after Chinese Premier Li Peng declared martial law. In what became known in the West as the Tiananmen Square Massacre, troops with automatic rifles and tanks fired at the demonstrators trying to block the military's advance towards Tiananmen Square. The number of civilian deaths has been estimated variously from 180 to 10,454. Set against a backdrop of rapid economic development and social changes in post-Mao Zedong China, the protests reflected anxieties about the country's future in the popular consciousness and among the political elite. The reforms of the 1980s had led to a nascent market economy which benefitted some people, but seriously disaffected others and the one-party political system also faced a challenge of legitimacy. Common grievances at the time included inflation, limited preparedness of graduates for the new economy and restrictions on political participation. The students called for democracy, greater accountability, freedom of the press and freedom of speech, though they were loosely organized and their goals varied.[6][7] At the height of the protests, about 1 million people assembled in the Square. As the protests developed, the authorities veered back and forth between conciliatory and hardline tactics, exposing deep divisions within the party leadership.[9] By May, a student-led hunger strike galvanized support for the demonstrators around the country and the protests spread to some 400 cities.[10] Ultimately, China's paramount leader Deng Xiaoping and other Communist Party elders believed the protests to be a political threat and resolved to use force.[11][12] The State Council declared martial law on 20 May 20 and mobilized as many as 300,000 troops to Beijing.[10] The troops suppressed the protests by firing at demonstrators with automatic weapons, killing multiple protesters and leading to mass civil unrest in the days following. The international community, human rights organizations and political analysts condemned the Chinese government for the violent response to the protests. Western countries imposed severe economic sanctions and arms embargoes on Chinese entities and officials. In response, the Chinese government verbally attacked the protestors and denounced Western nations who had imposed sanctions on China by accusing them of interference in China's internal affairs, which elicited heavier condemnation by the West. It made widespread arrests of protesters and their supporters, suppressed other protests around China, expelled foreign journalists, strictly controlled coverage of the events in the domestic press, strengthened the police and internal security forces and demoted or purged officials it deemed sympathetic to the protests. More broadly, the suppression temporarily halted the policies of liberalization in the 1980s. Considered a watershed event, the protests also set the limits on political expression in China well into the 21st century. Its memory is widely associated with questioning the legitimacy of Communist Party rule and remains one of the most sensitive and most widely censored political topics in mainland China

ATW! Pride of the Great State of North Carolina and America, the Heroes who jump outta aircraft and teach #LifeLessons; since WWII, the one's whom are the FIRST to drop/arrive in-Theatre; Gotta Earn those Blood Wings before thinking about trying for another colour Cover; Although Grandad was 101st, and Respect to all Paratroopers, The Colonel was 82nd & 3rd-SFG(A), I grew up idolising them. All American. The baddest of Badarses. Every story, battle, conflict and those from Ancient Greece, were my bedtime stories and lessons as I grew up. This always gives me chills and swells me with Pride, Thank you! AIRBORNE! T W

I grew up in an Army family with an uncle in the Marines. My grandfather was in WWI. Dad and my uncle "T" were in WWII and in Korea and dad was still on AD during Vietnam. I married a man in the Navy. My youngest son was in the Marines. I joined the Army Nurse corps and served 16 years of reserve and AD time. Blew my knee out running in Korea. 😅😢

To anyone who’s hating, why? It’s a cover it’s not going to be perfect. I really like it. It’s not really supposed to sound like the original. It’s a rendition, a different take on the song. If you listen to it thinking it’s going to sound like the original then yeah, yeah you might be disappointed but if you listen to it like it’s a new song then you might really like it. Just my 2 cents as a musician who has done many covers myself.
