I found a salamander on the cement floor in the garage! Where am I supposed to bring him? Will he be ok if I bring him under some logs close to the water? What do they do in the winter months?

Hi Rosane, We do apologize for the delayed reply and not noticing your question about this until now. If it is a common species such as a blue-spotted or spotted salamander, you could contact an animal rescue centre to see if they can further help: www.ontariowildliferescue.ca/wildlifecentres/ if it is a species at risk you should also notify the Natural Resources Information Centre: 1-800-667-1940. The salamanders overwinter below surface level so would need significant extra help to survive over winter outside of natural conditions.
