Those pens from your grandfather are precious and I hope that you will always have wonderful memories of him when you use them.

Thank you Joost and Stephen. An interesting interview (?). We all have stories about our indoctrination into the world of fountain pens.ike Stephen my first introduction to fountain pens was in school. A classmate was writing with one and I knew I had to have one, too. My mother was astonished I wanted one. So she bought a Scripto fountain pen for me. I found out that paper used in school was more like a paper towel with wood chips embedded in it and it soaked the ink horribly. It was not until I was at university that I purchased another pen, a Parker 75 cisele. Glorious pen. When I went to work I used a Parker 25 with it's steel nib that was so strong I could write and make carbon copies with it.

I used Sheaffer student fountain pens in school also but got away from them when I went to college. A few years ago, I got back to using them again and Dr. Brown is one of the reasons with his videos. I'm glad I rediscovered them. Thank you Dr. Brown.

SBREBrowm…You are the best! I live in Rhode Island…..no more pen/stationery stores….BUT, we have an Appelboom in Boston (bought the long-time Bromfield Pen)…and I’m picking up the 2022 LAMY special All-Star bright red gift set ……might you review it? I’ve seen one already, and you’ve reviewed a zillion LAMY models, but you are both instructional and immensely entertaining! Thank you.

this was hilarious 😂 in these digital times there are way fewer occasions i encounter people wanting to borrow pens. however, 10, 15 yrs ago or more, that would happen more frequently & my first question to the borrower had always been « are you familiar with fountain pens ? » if they said no i wouldn’t lend my pen to them 😂😂😂 then again, i was more inclined to say no anyway unless the person appealed to me in some way. having a stranger (or colleague or even a casual friend) grip an object that’s of value to me is kind of invasive - i’m sure we can all agree that our fountain pens are not the same faceless run of the mill disposable pens one finds everywhere; instead they often have a story & history attached to their owners and that increases sentimental or possessive value. totally enjoyed this episode, sbrebrown is always a treat ! thank you 😊

Great thoughts as always from Stephen Brown. Stephen, if you read this, one tip if I may: You don't want to talk into the top end of the Blue Yeti microphone like that. Tilt it away from you and talk into the side that has the "Blue" logo on it, and you'll get better sound. (That way, the diaphragm inside the mic will be facing you -- It's a "side address" not an "end address" microphone.) I don't mean to be pedantic, but it's like if you saw someone holding a fountain pen with the nib rotated 90 degrees, sideways to the paper.

Love the series! Now I am trying not to be too nitpicky, but as it's not the 'frist' time it has come up, and it's likely to come up again, you might want to correct the question about the 'frist' fountain pen.

I wish I was givin a fountain pen to practice from school...atleast I was taught cursive..but I new cursive before kindergarten
@technoraptor77782 жыл бұрын
I practiced cursive by making the figure 8s and loops before the letters...I still write print all the time...but I feel my handwriting developed over time by having learned cursive, giving it personality..for example my As and Rs are connected, sometimes Es and Rs (R is connected to many letters..hes popular)...double Ts.. As and Ns...things like that..its cool
