I give episode 8 a 9/10 and the entire show gets a 10/10 it’s an amazing masterpiece, this show is so well done that it makes me excited for The Batman Part 2 because the penguin does have Batman references in it and familiar characters that were in the first Batman movie that are going to be in the sequal, Marvel and Sony should look at this and see that this is a villain project done right.

DC would've been in big trouble if they portrayed The Penguin as an anti-hero. He, and, especially, the Joker are villains meant to be fleshed out evil people. It would ruin their characters.

Matt Reeves managed to make something on par with Joker 1 and Logan, and unlike Todd Phillips has gained my further trust. Matt and the Penguin writers have embarrassed Sony and Disney. Sony especially needs creatives like them in charge of villain spin offs. Matt also does grounded and mature comic book properties better than Disney. Matt feels like he would fit in with the Netflix Daredevil creatives.

Kinsey worked for the Falcones and is the cop that arrests Sophia in the flashback and gets his nose broken by Batman. We never got confirmation MacKenzie was dirty. Batman just asked him if he was.

It’s sad Tony Todd recently passed away. I would’ve loved an R rated animated movie about his venom and be about his rivalry with Carnage. And both characters wouldn’t be heroes and instead still villains. Similar to how Oz and Sofia were both the protagonists of the Penguin series but both still were villains and not good guys in the slightest. Imagine something similar with Venom and Carnage. And I know Venom can be an anti hero sometimes but if he’s gonna be one he needs to be like Punisher and regardless not family friendly.

Yo Eric. This show has been teasing a specific Villain in this universe. In the courtroom scene in THE PENGUIN in the 8th episode, there’s these sculptures that vaguely resemble birds. And the most known birds in Gotham are… owls. And Owls are often the animal theme sometimes in Gotham because of The Court of Owls silent influence in Gotham. And the world of Corruption in Gotham in The Batman is perfect for The Court.

No, they really did change his last name, just like they did with the Riddler from Nigma to Nashton. Said so several times. The reason is that they thought "Cobblepot" is a comedic gentleman's name which fitted the Penguin originally because that's what he was. As a name for a gangster coming from the underclass it doesn't work, so they changed it to Cobb.

As I was listening to this doing my morning routine, I realized something I should have from the start but didn't pick up on until now. Maybe because of your British accent or "British like" (not good with that stuff), but anyway, you got me thinking about "Vic" is shorthand for cops for a victim. So in an odd way the entire time, they gave us a clue he was destined to be Penguin's victom all along. The extra sad part is if he let Squid live he would have had at least one dude who would recognize his body, but he killed him because he knew he would be (Victor) be less valuable to Oz in crown point and Victor's neck would be shot instead of choked out at the end. (Not to mention his mom giving Vic love and thinking he is the elder brother at times. As soon as Oz knew he had that gangster Aisian dude Vic was no more useful to OZ as a #2 man just like Squid would have been. Sad but Vic was always going to be a Victom of the city. Hopefully Batman takes in an Orphin underground that was selling bliss and wandered into the wrong tunnel and we can finally get a Robin or a Robin spinoff series that brings in Robin for Batman 3 vs Mayer Ozwald Cobblepot the new Mayer who "understands" crime better then the last Mayer Reeal.

Penguin excels over Agatha in every fucking aspect and that says a lot because Agatha shoehorned pandering bs in (Agatha and death were never lesbian in comics btw). Meanwhile Penguin makes it integral to the story and they learn from the MSHEU’s mistakes (the MSHEU thing is a roast btw)

I’m not defending Disney or Marvel or anything but your points made about them are only a small part of this video. This is primarily a Penguin review. I feel like the title would mislead a lot of people that Disney and Marvel are the main subject rather than the show itself. Also, I definitely think you should do a video comparing all the comic book villain shows and movies like Penguin, Peacemaker, Loki and whatever Sony is doing with the Spider-Man villains. I feel like given how Peacemaker season 2 is coming out, Venom 3’s recent release, the Penguin show, Agatha, and the upcoming release of Kraven, these all seem like a hot topic and sort of a trend.

I was referring to Mackenzie Bock, The Chief. When Batman said "The DA would rather die than talk. Who was he afraid of? You?" Mackenzie had a smile on his face. Which to me showed that he was corrupt. And in the next scene Batman thought so and told Gordon. So that's why I'm surprised that he wasn't at the very least questioned. But that's my opinion on it. What do you think?

@@EricCarter12 He may have been corrupt (I don't think we get a definitive answer to it) but I don't really think Gordon has the power to question him since Bock is the Chief. Bock became the highest ranking cop so I don't see any reason for him to not be in the force in the Penguin. The corruption in the system didn't seem to end in The Batman so I don't think anyone could've rounded him up or questioned him.

​@@EricCarter12 I think it's obvious for Gordon to become commissioner but from a logical standpoint, shouldn't Bock be first in line since he's higher ranked than Gordon? Maybe Bella Reál prefers Gordon? Bock seems a bit shady but I think his conversation with Sofia Falcone gives away more than his conversation with Batman. He may have smirked a little when Batman accused him but he seemed quite pissed off aswell. He smiled when Sofia asked him if he was there to throw her familys death in her face and asked if he and the boys would go for beers later. I'm not sure if he's really corrupt. Still, it's worth noting that Mackenzie Bock is an actual character from the comics and he doesn't seem to be corrupt. He struck a deal with the Penguin to get wounded out of Gotham when earthquakes hit but that's about all I can find. But he may die (Loeb from Arkham/style) or something in the sequel. I'm not really sure. He doesn't seem to be an integral character for the overarching story so I haven't really thought to much about him.

Exactly. You'd think with all of Marvel's attempts they would be able to crack the code for making a near perfect Streaming Show. But they haven't. They're still making all the same mistakes. DC also has Peacemaker which was another great show that utilised its episode count extremely well. The MCU doesn't match up to either of them. So in that regard, The Penguin is the second example of how Marvel could be doing so much better but for some reason are not. Thanks so much for watching buddy! ​@@EricCarter12 yeah but dc also had many attempts aswell, most of them flopped (gotham knights, naomi, titians, most of legends of tomorrow, krypton. To name a few) marvel on the other hand only started making more series about 2 years ago, had their highs and lows but had more success that dc. So i wouldn't say that dc is kicking marvels ass in the show industry because they had one almost perfect show. Now if dc was constantly making memorable hit after hit that would be different. @rozariovalley2727 I see your point. But I'm not reffering to the CW Shows. I'm specifically referencing the Movie Spin Off Shows. Individually both Marvel and DC have great shows. But their in-universe shows are a completely different comparison. That's what I'm referencing in this video. And no problem buddy! 👍
