That forest ride up from Byrness is a killer - it felt the worst climb on the whole PW to me. I did wonder how you were going to deal with crossing the Cheviots if you weren't camping, but didn't expect a return to Byrness!

Yeah for a first up hill climb it was a killer!!!! The kind people from the Forest View Walkers Inn organized a pick-up from Trowes Farm in the afternoon then a return ride the next morning. It breaks up that final leg into 2 manageable days.

Perfect time for releasing these videos: The Montane Spine Race began yesterday at 8am with a foot of snow on the ground in Edale. Today, at 4pm, the leading runner just made it to Tan Hill Inn! That's 120 miles completed in 32 hours. They're just superhumans, but worth 'dot watching' on the official website.

We take our hats off to the people contesting this race, truly brave souls. We have been following Ellie from the "Ellis Hikes" channel but unfortunately she had to retire at Cowling but good on her for having a go.
