The Pentax LX body system came along as Pentax's professional level camera well after other manufacturers like Canon and Nikon. It really was exceptional in terms of design and function. Pentax supported it with a wealth of accessories. It was every bit as expensive as its other major competitors, which was the root of its failure. It never caught on with the pros. Many of its distinctive accessories were hard to obtain, even when new, and most are practically unobtainable now as a result. Had I not been fully invested in NIkon equipment at the time, I would have bought into it, but it offered little to justify the economic loss of selling off a whole system of equipment from another brand just to buy the LX. One advantage the LX had was that being made much later than other systems, it had the advantage of incorporating all the latest technology, but it was too expensive for non-pros, and Pentax already offered a full line of excellent consumer grade and priced cameras with much of the same technology and which took all the same lenses.

This was a beautiful film. You see the things we take for granted every day and make them into aspirational subjects. It shows that you see more clearly than most. I savoured every minute and also loved the music. A video for the soul. Thank you. From Tony in Melbourne, Australia.

Thank you for this very clear video on not just technique, but aesthetic considerations for macro photography. It is inspiring. I've shot my strawberry garden with my 'Cord and the +2 lenses with the near-IR Rolleicord b&w film and a red filter, giving me almost white strawberries and leaves that almost glowed a shiny black. You've inspired me to get back there with my Praktica and some Astrum 200 film.

I enjoy macro/close up photography but rarely use b&w, this has made me want to explore that more. Lovely choice of music for the video.

Lovely photos, Martin, loved the texture ones particularly! I find that colour becomes more important for BnW than for colour actually. Because even with panchromatic emulsions, they see colour differently and have different sensitivities to each part of the spectrum compared to another type. And then there are the various colour filters!

Very nice photography Mr Henson. The LX is a good camera system. You are lucky to have the finders. I had to pay a small fortune for the ones for Nikon.

Thanks for another informative and enjoyable video. I didn't know about that viewfinder for the LX - very cool. Also, I share your love for the Pentax-M 100mm macro - it's my favorite pentax lens for the versatility and ability to capture a nice closeup.

I have that action finder setup for my LX also. It’s really a great accessory, nice to see someone else using them. I also was thinking about buying a macro for the camera and the 100 was on my list. You are an evil man for stoking my GAS. Then I only need an ultra wide angle like a 21

Lovely shots, thanks for showing your techniques! I'll be trying some b&w film for macro next time out. The LX is a great camera, oh I wish mine was not broken! I do most my macro work with medium format cameras for the greater resolution and those fantastic large negatives. It is true that depth of field is more challenging to deal with, but worth the effort IMO. Thanks, love your videos!

How did it break and is it beyond repair? Shame to hear
@justlikeswimming5988
@justlikeswimming5988 2 жыл бұрын
@@floatingpoints1507 It appears the electronics are off (resulting in random mistiming of shutter curtains), I've been told it's not fixable (no replacement parts, and pentax used different boards on various makes of LX that aren't compatible with each other, so it's hard to find old boards that work). So sad, it's a lovely camera! I only got a few rolls of film through it before it broke...
