I am in the middle of a trying to figure it out mode. Media has stopped selling. The good stuff still sells but it is getting harder and harder to find the good stuff. I have to transition into something else. I have been selling media full time since the 90s. Glad you found your new transition. I think the economy will just keep getting worse as well.

Its happening to alot of the full time resellers that I watch. I believe the watchers wants to see the thrifting, garage sales flea markets, not What Not sales. That's my thing. I don't do it for a living so its not a big deal for me. I still do eBay and 3 mall spaces. No you tube money. Clothing is harder but I have always sold a variety of hard goods. I'm more picky with my clothing purchases so its still fun to go to the thrift stores and shop. Philly Phlipper, Hairy Tornado and others are doing the What Not thing and that is fine. I just don't find it as interesting as the sourcing. Wishing you all the best.

People switch careers all the time I see no reason why you couldn't switch businesses especially if you can be more successful with. You've done the grind and proven you can make a living with it sometimes we pivot in life and our priorities change nothing wrong that. I think a lot people were riding off the high from the pandemic and things have normalize a bit so you're seeing a lot people out the door. This has been my year in sales personally I went from everything to niching down to about 5 categories learning to maximize my knowledge in those. I like seeing the different style of business we can always learn something new to apply to our own life so looking forward to the new content.

When LSG ROB said he listed 10-15 a day at 30bux + shipping. average 25 profit per item. You calculated him at a 100% sell-through rate. I don't resell so I don't know what a realistic STR is. half? 60%? 30%? So whatever you calculated cut it by 40% - 60% so more like 30-50K a year. I'd say right in between a good side hustle/job The question is how much time is dedicated? what happens when an item doesn't sell after 60 days? do we leave it or make it down? what if it doesn't sell after 90 days? how do we liquidate this and regain our capital? the problem with the reseller model is that the amount of listings on your account has nothing to do with the potency of how well anything sells cuz you only have 1 copy of it. because sourcing 2000 new items is not the same as having 2000 listings you accrued over time sourcing 20 items a day and selling half and half unsold rolls over. if anything you sourced couldn't even sell 1 copy in 60 days at a fair price, I think it's safe to say it's a dead item. Sure there are things that sell after 8 months or 2 years, but your money tied up in that inventory is an opportunity cost that could have done something else. Your business is a living entity, but it's also uncompromising and unforgiving. I personally buy items in bulk, I start with a small amount like 200 units. I do the same thing you guys do, take my own photos and make a generic listing for it. if it moves 5 a day not even trying, We throw the kitchen sink at it, professional photos, models, the works. Refined titles, and descriptions and we make multiple listings and multiple platforms. to try to ramp it to at least 10 units a day, if it makes it, we reorder. if it moves slowly, we might not even mark it down, and let it die, 200 units at 3 pieces a day is still gone in 2 months. little time wasted. but we get that money back and we try again. rinse/repeat and build more core items. I don't source new items without finding out if the last item I bought is a smash or pass.

I'm full and perminant and don't do that kind of sales..I can't physically source that much and online is a lot of work for a little return....like retail arbitrage, I'll keep my part time and stay happy, I have no desire to be Beau Johnson and i already have health insurance, a pension, no mortgage and no car payments....I do this cos i love it and it was a natural transition from coin buying and selling to other items....it's a nice side hustle and not many hobbies make money.

You were onto a start with reselling, had a space, employee, but you failed to grasp inventory. Many resellers can do $100-200k a month revenue with enough employees or va's. Ebay just showcased a asian lady/couple a few months ago that started from nothing a few years ago.
