My first year at the Muny was approximately 1954 (8 years old). My father pumped gas at the Shell station on Clayton Road, and the promotions manager was a regular customer. He would give my father 4 promo tickets for my family. Folding chairs were set up on the first aisle, and centerstage was the position. Besides our seats, there were maybe 10 other free seats in this area (this is apparently not done any longer). I still remember the first show - Oklahoma - and can hear in my mind some of the song lyrics (when the wind comes sweeping down the plain). I was absolutely thrilled. As an adult, I now often buy season tickets for 4 (myself and my relatives).

I sat in the free seats when I didn't have the expendable money. Thank you! Now that I have more money, I buy tickets!

This series is so very interesting. No one has ever told the beginnings of the theatre to the general public. I grew up on going to the free seats! And then started purchasing tickets as an adult. Then I lucked out that the company I work for has had company seats forever way down front - and I have had the opportunity to sit there quite a few times! Makes me emotional watching these. Special place in my heart for the Muny. Please keep this series going!!!!!

I do have one complaint. Who is the gentleman that narrates this. Please identify him. I know he is listed the credits, but everybody else is identified in the film
