As a streamer I can tell you it works great. You don't nearly need as much light as a web cam for it to look good. Huge plus from a headache suffer. There are many options out there but there is a lot of. But the auto focus hunts or looses track. Not as good low light. This thing has been rock solid and super easy to shoot with and mostly stays out of my way when creating content for both youtube and twitch. I would add that the on board mic is really good if you shoot vlogs outside. I also tried the sony stereo shot gun mic that works directly thought the hot shoe and returned it. The quality difference was not that much better. But for indoors if you room is not treated for sound it will pic up a ton of reverb. And you can fix this with a cheap lav. Sony also has a single channel wireless lav system that works through the hot shoe connection so you don't need to plug it into the mic port like there stereo shotgun. But I think the rode wireless seems to be over all a better solution. Also if you vlog get extra battery's. Oh and you can recharge the battery from the USB port of the camera and power it from USB as well when streaming. Be sure to use at least a 10w charger or the battery will still drain.

I've heard of the Sony ZV-1 a few months back and I'm really amazed on how many features are packed in a small form-factor camera. IMO this could be a top tier option for many content creators on internet. Other than the fact that the lens isn't interchangeable, this is still a great option for many creators but it's going for a solid price compared to other DSLRs/mirrorless cameras. Hey m8. I'm an audio engineer and I've been watching your videos over the last few days. I just want to point out something that nobody else seems to do for some reason. It sounds like you are boosting 2k-6k very much in your audio on all of your videos and also having a lot of bass around 100-200hz. Or maybe you just cut everything else very much and then boost all. You already have a very raspy voice and so boosting those raspy frequencies even more can give people (like me) audio sickness. I almost get dizzy from listening to you too much, I have to lower my volume or EQ my output if I'm watching a full video. This is absolutely no hate, just constructive critisism ^^ Note: This video handles that much better, this is mostly when you're talking directly into a mic.

I love the built-in ND filter for shooting in bright conditions, although it`s not the strongest ND :) I strongly would recommend it. The only thing I don`t love is the build quality, it`s all made of plastic, so compared to the G7x mk3 or the RX100 series it feels a bit cheap compared to its price, but so far it has performed MARVELLOUSLY!

How are you overheating the ZV-1? Every 4k test I've done so far in an 80*F environment had the battery die before any sort of thermal shutdown occurred in the high temp mode. I've even gotten the camera scorching hot using the 480fps HFR mode for a long duration outside on a 106*F day (seriously, the ring around the base of the lens hurt to touch for more than 4-5 seconds and the metal plate on the back was similarly hot) and it still didn't shut down. I'm genuinely curious: what combination of settings in high temp mode and environment managed to overheat the camera so quickly for you?

How worth is it compared to canon m50? it's around $170 cheaper in my country, and got bigger sensor. and from what I've gathered the autofocus isn't bad, and you can change the lens to record well on low light when outside I might be wrong, but I don't think the m50 has overheating issues whether it's 1080p60 recording nor stream through hdmi is it really worthy to sacrifice those advantages to get the more expensive but much more compact camera? (I gave up buying webcam since the cheapest c920 I could find cost $136 and I just bought a decent app to turn my phone to webcam for now..)
@cellprocessing68324 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you need. I have had both. But for the larger sensor size the ZV-1 low light is still close to the M50. Based on what I used so far. I would say its worth it. The ZV-1 makes using it so effertless.
@Dodgster4 жыл бұрын
1. The canon m50's 4k is unusable due to the lack of dual pixel autofocus when using it 2. The canon m50 may be cheaper but if you want to get a fast aperture lens to match the zv-1's f1.8 one you'd have to pay well over 150 bucks 3. The zv-1 has a built in nd filter which you'd usually have to pay extra for when using the m50 4. The zv-1 is probably one of the best cameras at its price range that has a good enough microphone built in which you'd usually have to pay for an external one for the m50 5. If you're livestreaming, you won't need a 400 quid 4k capture card for the zv-1 in the future as sony is releasing their own dedicated software that allows you to connect it to ur computer for livestreaming using a micro usb cable
@Kevfactor4 жыл бұрын
you all are forgetting cannon has refurbished m50 sells a lot too. You are really looking at half the cost. Overall i just think it depends how serious you are at content creation. If this stuff is being done for a living you probably want to spend more. just some dude taking pictures or vlogs, i think m50 is enough for 1080p stuff tbh.
@S-Kara4 жыл бұрын
I've been digging deeper and I think I've decided.. zv-1 is packed with very very nice auto focus, it fits in your pockets, you dont need to bring as much things as you would with other cameras, just extra battery, gimbal, mic, and sd cards. there are fun slow mo modes, the auto defocus is awesome, and overheat seems to be quite non-issue. I'll 100% go with sony zv1 just because of the compactness, easy auto focus, and I just love it. (kinda wish that the lens would get me wider shot, but I'll trade that with not having to buy and carry around multiple lens, the f 1.8 is decent enough on low light, man good job sony xd thanks everyone for the advice, definitely helped me out on deciding :)

I happen to be in the market for a new "stream" camera when this was announced and pre-ordered it hoping it would work out. I stream in what would probably be considered very low light using only two indirect lightbulbs with one behind my left and right monitor respectively. I know how important light is, I just can't stream comfortably with a ton of light on me lol. As soon as I turned it on the difference from my Logitech Brio was night and day. Everything was so much clearer and honestly shocked me looking back at older casts with just how bad the Brio looked with my lighting setup. I run it at 1080p/60 via HDMI to a Elgato HD60 Pro and so far ::knock on wood:: have not had any over heating issues, even after leaving it on by mistake overnight a couple times. I know it's not the best camera and for my low light setup the AIIs may have even been an even better choice, but with how easy this was to setup and use consistently with worry free operation of just turning it on and I'm done every stream, I have been more than happy with this upgrade.

@@ZuLuuuuuu I keep my battery that came with it in the camera. I have not tested with the battery out but depending on what USB charger you use it may not offer enough power regardless. However, switching to a 12w iPad charger I have left it on by mistake overnight and it was still on when I got up. I tried out a HDR-SC380 Handycam on a whim (it was cheap) in a capture card (Ripsaw HD). It turned out to be a better solution than the Sony Mirrorless camera I was using and the Handycam had clean HDMI out of the box and was outputting 1080p. OBS was seeing it as 60FPS. I did have a older Sony Mirror less before, but it didn't have clean-HDMI so I was cropping the info out on the borders. This made me wonder why zero - absolutely zero websites or KZbin channels mention that this model (and probably others) of Sony Handycan works so well as a capture device for a card. It deals with the lighting situation well and it focuses much faster than the Sony Mirror less. It has a varying FOV due to its 60x Optical Zoom. But it doesn't have the lens options that the Mirror less cams that almost all streamers seem to recommend. However, since I'm exclusively streaming with Chroma Key, it does a good job with that. The Handycam works so well, I found out I no longer have to light my screen since the signal it feeds to OBS is great enough to cleanly take out the specified color and lighting the screeen makes no difference. While I have no doubt that the ZV-1 produces a better image and has a better color profile, the Handycam solution costs about 10% of the price on the popular auction and rainforest named websites. The Handycam is easier to deal with as a mounting solution also. I might have to start a series on buying these cameras (many times under $100) and demoing them LOL.

@djtrepound24072 жыл бұрын
I’m a DJ and on average I stream for no less than 2-4hrs any given stream. I usually go with 1080 60fps. Would you recommend this or something else to avoid overheating? I’m currently using a GoOro Hero 9 which gets the job done, but I want a better more detailed imagine going forward.

Hey, I watched this and was just about to pull the trigger until I got to the line that you said it's not ideal for long presentations. I'm a professional speaker, what are your concerns here? I would still be using it as a webcam - for talks. Also, thanks. Great vid.

Does this have mains power? As in, if using it as webcam does it generate enough power to sustain itself off of the USB (which I'm assuming doubles as the charger?)

The answer is no. People use dummy batteries and HDMI for best results.

But i didn't understand your conclusion perfekt. But i am starting up my news commentary channel again and i think this are a descent camera with good price and easy to take with me to do 1080p videos with or am i wrong here. and i can do shorter 4k videos as well i think i hardly dont do longer videos than 10-15 min. do you think this is a good camera for that? Thanks for a nice presentation.

@@EposVox my bad what I meant to say what would you recommend the Sony ZV-1 or the Sony - Alpha 6100 with this lens Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E (402965)
@EposVox3 жыл бұрын
Depends on your needs. The zoom lens and compact nature and product showcase autofocus are compelling features of the ZV-1. But you’ll get better image quality out of the a6100 combo

This is very tempting, I cannot find a G7 anywhere (with a lens) that is

I use my A5100 for 3 hours at a time with no problems. I have the LCD flipped up and I am using a USB endless battery sort of thing I got on Amazon (B076ZXKBSG). I just plug in one of those USB cables to my powerstrip.

Torn between the ZV1 and the A6400. Any advice? I could afford either one.

I have always wondered... camcorders for streaming? good/bad/meh?
@JonReynoldsESQ4 жыл бұрын
I think people don't like the look of camcorders...like it's just a flat image with affordable camcorders..no "depth of field" or whatever...but I'm considering it heavily.
@JohnCripps4 жыл бұрын
@@JonReynoldsESQ hmm. understandable but most people I have watched, and I admit this is almost exclusively been on Twitch, have been using a green screen or had a backdrop close enough to their person as to make use of a blurred out background. I would be interested to see this explored. Also consider me ignorant but can camcorders not do the depth of field effect also?
@JonReynoldsESQ4 жыл бұрын
@@JohnCripps - they can...that effect is mostly due to the lens...lower priced camcorders tend to not have changeable lenses. You can get an older used one with a changeable lens for a lower price...and I read that there are add-ons for less expensive camcorders, but I haven't researched the add-on lens route yet.
@JonReynoldsESQ4 жыл бұрын
Oh...and if the camcorder is far enough from you...and then the background is also far enough behind you...you can get it on anything. There's a guy that just reviews camcorders and he talks about it...let me find his link. MarkusPix on KZbin...look up his stuff.
@Dennis-vh8tz4 жыл бұрын
@@JonReynoldsESQ Actually too much depth of field, not too little (more depth of field means more of the image is in focus). The closer the subject is to the camera the shallower the depth of field - to get the blurriest background you want the subject at minimum focus distance and the background as far away as possible. But with a green screen background none of this matters as the background is set during post production. So you can just use an out of focus of image/video for the background. Or use your image/video editing software to blur a sharp image and use the blurred version for the background.

Thank you for sharing! I’m about to start a video podcast with some friends and I’m highly considering purchasing this camera along with the zoom h6 recorder. With the right cables would you think those products would be sufficient?
