I wish there would be an Ultimate Edition of SOTN. Here's what I would like to see: Able to select between PS1 or PSP script and voice cast, Richter has his Saturn sprite for his playable form/appearance outside the prologue, the bonus areas for the Saturn version, can play as either Saturn Maria or PSP Maria. I think that's all the features that all the versions had, but Ultimate SOTN would run better than the others.

You did a great job adding subtextual details like “the whip being a sentient being” and “Alucard feeling a deep darkness beneath with Galamoth.” The only thing is I wish the video had an extra ten minutes with more artwork of the Belmont’s not being able to use the whip or a more dramatic reaction with Richter. As clean as the presentation was for the psp port of SOTN, the changed dialogue seemed so off. True, it sounded more realistic. But the older voices, despite sometimes being rather corny, had this regal feeling to Alucard and Maria. Other than that it was such a treat to have this portable.

Especially the one line Alucard said at the end: "You were doomed the day you lost the ability to love" This line is the best thing ever in the entire script! Why did they change it?! I am a bit biased, since I played SotN on PSP when I was 14, but to me PS1 Alucard sounds jarring and weird, his grunts and spells sound ridiculous and overall, his delivery is monotone. Now, again, PSP Alucard is monotone too, but a calmer softer voice suits the softer designs of Ayami Kojima much more. Alucard as drawn by her looks elegant and fragile. Most people say that old VA had more power behind his voice and lines, but, again, Alucard is not supposed to be some badass who is always in control. Nevertheless, I like PS1 VAs for memetic value at least and I liked Alucard's original VA appearing as OD in Bloodstained. I just don't understand why there is outright hate for the new VAs. Dracula sounds like a character now, Richter and Maria are consistent with how they are in Rondo, Death sounds more sophisticated.

His delivery is smooth, there is nothing in his lines that projects a "badass in control" his voice only booms with intensity when he is angered (just like Dracula's voice actor) because while he is even keeled and borderline passive, when that tepes blood starts boiling you are in for some pain. "Trouble the soul of my mother no more!" carries WAAAY more weight. PS1 voice overs match their portraits just fine. PSP voices sound like some shit I'd hear on a dubbed anime They have no audible appeal, the voices don't make me feel good listening to them. They don't make me enjoy the characters , andit feels like the lines were delivered to cut a check not really in love for it.

@@WhensMahvel I watched this games PS1 version together with my fellow german youtubers who played it for me, since I never had the console. And to be honest: The original script is wayyyy better! The new voices sound ok, to be fair. But why did they change the script?! My most favorite line ever was when Alucard said: "You were doomed the day you lost the ability to love." I don't remember the exact line, but it was almost exactly like that. He delivered that line like a boss! I want the old script back! I don't care if the voices sound cringy at some parts! The old voice actors delivered their lines like bosses! And that's all that matters!

I solved that problem by changing the english voices to the original ones so I never had to compare them to the oens I was used to on psx and just enjoyed the game once again as it was meant to be played.

Now now, Richter has eyes only for his girlfriend, when in anime style you must pose heroically! =P Great work as always, I never had access to the remake so it was nice to see my favorite Belmont in the standard Castlevania style. I also like the cross on the back of his jacket, its a nice touch. However I much prefer the anime look and feel the game originally had. IMO it holds more character/personality.

Now we have the greatest and the unfortunate worst Belmont back to back. Leon Belmont the man that's sworn to hunt Dracula through his clan. Trevor Belmont that restored to Belmont name what's help from his friends. Simon Belmont Dracula's bane always defeating him no matter how powerful he gets. Although it was Simon's arrogance that caused him great trouble is perseverance and wisdom along the years made him a great warrior and honored Belmont clan. Then the Richter Belmont a young man thrust into responsibility to defeat the dark lord once more succeeded once but ultimately failed in losing the trust of the vampire killer. Now more heroes must rise up to keep the dark one at Bay.

Man these are great! If only we could get a full animated series based on your timeline. I do like the original VA for SOTN better though lol. "What is a Man?" lol. I had an idea that might have worked with the story as well. Just a thought.... So when Richter fought Dracula the 1st time, you could have said he was over confident and didnt expect Dracula to be so powerful. Richter was severally wounded and before Dracula could make the killing blow, Maria rushed in just in time to use her great power to heal and give holy strength to Richter. (i dont know if you know this but in SOTN when you fight Drac, you lose all your health, Maria will come in and use the power of her animals and make you invincible.) But either way, its still awesome, cant wait for the next one!

It's not a minotaur in Dracula X Chronicles, it's clearly the Behemoth from Castlevania 64, well actually 64 took it from Rondo of Blood. It's corpse is in the Coliseum in SotN. The voice acting, dialogue, music and graphics are way worse than the original in RoB and SotN. But hey, awesome video once again, can't wait for part 6! This vid was a perfect way to start my winter vacation, thank you, good sir!

They could continue the story from Dawn of Sorrow, preferably with the bad ending when Soma turns evil because Soma is just... meh. Well actually, Demon Castle War 1999 first, please! I even got a Castlevania tattoo of the game over screen on DS games featuring a cross with bat wings, that's how you know I freaking love the series! 😄

It wasn't in the PS1 version is why. It was on the Saturn version and i believe they may have added it back in for the psp version. She was actually playable on Saturn in her adult form with some nice attacks. The psp version also made her playable but in her Rondo of Blood form for some reason

The game doesn't really go into too much detail besides a couple of lines from Death. When Dark Maxim was created, Dracula's castle was basically split into 2 halves. And Death was trying to merge them to resurrect Dracula.

Who knows? The game never explained it lol. Death was gonna merge them and then you destroy him. I would assume that when they merge it takes aspects from both sides and makes a brand new castle where Dracula is revived.

Maybe it works like a light world dark world sorta thing and one castle is in the physical human world and the other one is in chaos/void

It might have to do with bringing the conduit to the chaos realm into the human realm. As long as Maxim held out against him the castle could only be partially brought into the human realm as it did not have a strong anchor like the one that a fully reborn Dracula would provide (as we see it crumbles every time Dracula is defeated). It is also noteworthy that Dracula seems to be more powerful in the "B" castle as you can actually fight him in the game in either castle but only in the "B" castle does Maxim's defeat allow him to separate himself from Dracula. If you fight him in the "A" castle he dies immediately.

No, at this point the Castlevania Netflix series is so different than the games that it doesn't really mesh anymore. But the first show had some great elements to work in.
