I found the same splitter, a return at Lowe’s for $300. I got it home and motor started fine but hydraulic cylinder wasn’t working. I messed with it and watched a video, the controller had a govener/stop on it. On a whim I took it off so the controller could go fully back. This solved the problem. IDK why, perhaps the hydraulic fluid wasn’t getting fully into the cylinder. I’ve had it for a year now working great! $300 well spent. Great little unit.

It's a great little splitter that can split large rounds. If you can get it on the splitter, it will split.

Great Video Brother 👍 I just bought one today from Lowes. I got a great deal $300. Plus tax. It has been at this store in the desert of Arizona for over a year. It was Originally $999.00 Marked 50% off for $499.00 And I asked the Manager if I could offer $300.00 Cash and he said yes. There are No real trees anywhere near the store. That's why it had never sold.

You got a great deal! I’m still using mine after nearly three years. It starts in one or two pulls and just keeps going. It uses hardly any hydraulic fluid. It’s a well made machine. Best wishes with it.

I just got the identical Craftsmen model for 399 today at Lowes. I didn't think to ask for less. It would cost me more to rent it for all the wood I have to split after I got a huge tree cut down.

I bought one last fall for around $800 and I've split about 3 cords with it since then. It's handles surprisingly large rounds and does a good job with just one complaint. There is a minor but constant leak of hydraulic fluid that puddles under the back during storage. I've tried loosening and re-tightening all connections, but for the life of me I cannot track down the source.

I bought mine a year ago and it was $699. I have probably split about 6-7 cords with it. Originally, I was going to rent one or buy electric, then I found this one. I'm glad that I bought it! The hydraulic fluid leaks out of the cap area on mine when I run it. Have a great day!

I have a Ryobi 4 ton electric. Yes, they work great but you're limited to smaller sized rounds. I've passed up a lot of free wood because my little dinky splitter couldn't handle it. Surely my 13 ton won't split everything, but I'll bet it'll split larger wood than your 5 ton.

I caught a lot of wood 18 to 20 in long so just wondering if it will fit
@AdventuresAtHome1
@AdventuresAtHome1 Жыл бұрын
I just checked the Lowe's website and they say 20 inches is the max. The biggest round that I had on it was probably 22 inches in diameter and about 18 inches long. It's very powerful for a small machine. I store it outdoors and it still starts right up. I was originally going to rent a splitter, but this has definitely paid for itself. Thanks for watching!

Seems like it has plenty of power, and great price. Only thing I didn’t like when I saw it at lowes is the small capacity of 1.5gal hydraulic fluid, it will get hot and build up pressure during heavy usage. I found a used Huskee/Speeco with a B&S works great and holds 5gal of hydraulic fluid.
@AdventuresAtHome1
@AdventuresAtHome1 2 жыл бұрын
I was trying to stay in the $700 range for a new splitter and that was the best value that I could find. It does get hot when splitting in the Summer, so I just take breaks and let it cool down. I get hot and need breaks myself. LOL!
@nicholasproietto2500
@nicholasproietto2500 Жыл бұрын
For the amount of times a year mine will get used, I'm not going to worry about the small fluid capacity. I usually get my wood for free from storm blow downs, so mine will get used a pickup truck load at a time every once in a while.

Yes, for $699 it was a good buy! Now with the price increase, you may find a better value! I only have 3 acres of woods, so this will probably meet my needs going forward. I just bought one of these yesterday. They were on sale at my local Lowes for $433 and chance. I thought somebody had mis tagged it, or it was the last one, or one somebody returned. I inquired and was told that indeed was the price. I asked if it was the only one, and the guy said no, we have two more in the back room. I said well, now you only have one, I'll take it. I don't buy display units because they sit out in the weather all year, and the one outside showed from rust and faded paint. A lady clerk said yo me, "oh, the ones in back aren't assembled". I said "no problem, I have tools and know how to use them". Those kids at the box stores couldn't assemble a three legged chair without getting it wrong. I know it'll be assembled properly by doing it myself. I can't wait to use mine.
