My husband & I enjoy watching your content. Recently upgraded both our kayaks to peddle drives to extend our range. You should look into coming to Caddo Lake in NE Texas to fish the lake & the miles of paddling trails lined with Cypress trees. Lots of skinny water to explore & a nice State Park to camp in for a home base. May God continue to bless your endeavors.

I went ahead and cut the Hatch area out, and haven't regretted it. I originally did it to move my Torqeedo battery forward/up within the bow, but thus far I've used it for my drybag as well as tackle storage for items that don't need to be on deck. I have a sister material to Kydex that I'm going to make keel guards from, this Yak definitely needs them for the kind of River Running it's capable of.

John, Anchor Wizard has or will have an adapter for the low profile crank that mounts over one of the cup holder spots. They talk about it in the Shoalie overview on their KZbin channel.
@CreekFishingAdventures Жыл бұрын
i need to check if they got it back in stock
@jonathanlumpkin6384 Жыл бұрын
Crescent made the cup holders where you mount the anchor wizard to the cup holder. I have the anchor wizard mount that uses the shoalie handle screws to mount there. It sits behind the cup holder, leaving room for a drink. I used a yak gadget anchor cleat for shoalies on the front. It mounts to your front handle track and sits to the side of the handle so that you can leave the front handle on instead using up the whole front handle track with an anchor wizard chute. I have one tie down eyelet between the anchor wizard and the yak gadget cleat that's near my foot peg on the side track. You have to lift up on the anchor line and hold it up with your hand to release the line through the yak gadget cleat. The cleat pinches the line when you drop the line down to boat level. It sounds complicated, but it's pretty simple. I did have to take the bungee off the side handle to get the anchor wizard bracket mounted there.

I chose the Cresent ultra lite for my river running. I dont really fish still water even in streams...lol I car top so i needed a light yak. But i single access a lot so i needed a yak that could paddle up stream against the current at least as good as my old tarpon 120. i also wanted a 10 footer. The ultra lite ticked all the boxes all be it with some caveats. I wish Cresent would make a 10 footer with the shoalie hull. I have a love hate with relationship with my ultra lites heavily keeled hull.

I grew up wanting a nice decked-out fishing boat, now, like you, I want a kayak instead. I probably will spend the extra money on this, it's so well thought out, and cheaper than a Coosa X.
@MysticalDragon73 Жыл бұрын
This looks to be a decent boat overall. However the Coosa X still tops it in many ways. Especially the capacity and trimmable seat. This is what TG canoe and kayak had to say about it: The consensus at TGCK would be the Coosa X is the toughest and best river runner of the three pure river fishing kayaks, which includes the Shoalie and the RVR119.

Dude, a really nice creek kayak would be a Hobie lynx. I just bought a hobie lynx because I have an old town predator and a lynx can be for more splashing and fun and can double as a paddle board. Its super light and has a huge flat space and therefore you can customize it how you like. I'm 6'7" 350 lbs.
@CreekFishingAdventures Жыл бұрын
how does it handle in current and small rapids
@steveklick Жыл бұрын
@@CreekFishingAdventures I haven't tried it out yet in current or rapids but its actually not great for paddling long distance because it turns so much with a paddle which actually works great in small areas so great maneuverability and then when you want to go fast you use the pedal drive. I bought the turbo fins for mine which make it go a lot faster. The reason why I bought it was because after I sold my house I was wandering around my home area in Minnesota North metro Minneapolis and essentially living homeless but with money and I was outfitting my truck to be a camping living space which I lived in for 3 months straight. I had gone north on the Mississippi River where its very shallow and wide with turbulent waters and little back water chutes and islands everywhere and I started to figure that the best craft for negotiating all this would be to convert a paddle board into a kayak or elsr look into hybrid kayak paddleboards and that's what I did and I ended up with the lynx because I couldn't find a nice jerry seat for a paddle board without ordering one but also no paddle boards are actually made to sustain guys like you and me, I thought paddle board technology had come much further than it had and I could still probably use one but for a kayak it wouldn't have worked well so the lynx was the only solution that could handle my weight without being extra tippy or awkward. The pedal drive on the thing is super powerful and I think it goes way faster than the bike style propeller pedal drives I think by 1 or two miles an hour faster topping out at 4 or 5 miles an hour when the bike pedal ones only get like 3 I think. The hobie pedal drive is also said to be easier and better to function than the bike style but it has to be about a foot and a half to two feet deep to fully use it otherwise you can just paddle or use the fluttering technique which is awesome and I explained below. You can put a stand up bar on it which I did and the hull itself is super wide and flat for more balance and ease for stepping and such with handle bar to hold onto and rest yourself against. Water will splash over the top but its not bad and it won't get your seat or butt wet and it doesnt pool up like other kayaks, just washes over the top so it actually keeps it clean and so just either wear normal clothing or whatever you want to protect yourself but is great for swimming or getting little refreshing splashes on hot days. There all kinds of high tech accessory bars you can mount. Check out pictures of the hobie lynx with standup bar. Its awesome. Hobie kayaks also have this feature that is really cool that I've used with mine called fluttering and its for when you are in super shallow water where you can't fully use the fins so then you just flutter them a little with the pedal drive and it will move you around in super shallow water, its super awesome dude!

I absolutely love my Shoalie!!! Drew Gregory and the staff at Crescent really put a lot of thought into this yak. It's a small river and creek fishing dream!!! As you pointed out, it does have some flaws, as will the Bonafide RVR when it shows up. For me, the storage hatch was the Achilles Heel more than the Ketch Board spot. The Ketch Board slot was actually a non issue for me. The storage is very nil on this yak. I have seen a video where a guy cuts out the hatch, thereby opening up that whole area, and I'm thinking about doing that. Otherwise, I can't say enough good things about the Shoalie. I've even taken it out on a few horsepower restricted lakes, and it does a great job there as well. Here's a link to the hatch modification kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIXbgqp7n9apmcU
@MysticalDragon73 Жыл бұрын
the rvrs flaws is bonafides deceptive capacity ratings. The RVR has a capacity of 340lbs by bonafides bs standards forcing people to subtract the boat weight from the capacity which makes no sense. Others such as TG canoe and kayak rate it even lower at 329lbs. This is what TG canoe and kayak said about the three river boats: The consensus at TGCK would be the Coosa X is the toughest and best river runner of the three pure river fishing kayaks, which includes the Shoalie and the RVR119. Plus I likely wont get another boat without a trimmable seat as its a game changer.

He that believeth, and is Baptized, shall be saved. He that believeth not, shall be damned. Why is it, that we have so many people that refuse to believe? Simple. The iniquity of this World has abounded to the place, that the love of many has waxed cold. It is a tragic fact that, because of this, untold thousands of precious souls are pouring into Hell by the day! I know that I went off on a spiritual tangent right there, but it bothers me to see so many people dying lost without God. It grieves me to no end. Now I know, at least in part, how the weeping Prophet, Jeremiah, felt. God give us a burden for souls, that we continually reach out to the lost, that they may be saved!
