In Clearwater, FL is an excellent Polish pierogi joint called "PIEROGI GRILL & DELI". And they have an option to cook in boiling lard and after they drop them in that boiling lard, they almost double in size. And its actually delicious, one time i was trying to do the same in my house, but failed miserably, its gotta be the dough they use to make them grow.

We're glad you enjoyed! We really need to come back to Poland for the Christmas Markets one year. It's always the best part of spending Christmas in Europe. 🎅

Great to see you there! Me and my husband live in Kraków, but Wrocław is our favourite city in Poland and we go there very often, so it was so nice to see the place with your eyes! When it comes to pierogi, those with fruits are absolutely not for me somehow, something like kompot in dumpling dough, but are very popular and liked here :) Pity that your staying was so short! Somebody in the comments has already noticed, that you should stay till December :D

We love Wroclaw as well! It was the second Polish city we ever visited together, so it holds a special place in our hearts. We would LOVE to come back for Christmas sometime. This year, we will be celebrating in Dubai. We've never spent the holidays in the desert, so it'll be interesting! 😅

Most popular pierogi are boiled or fried and these one are baked (in the oven i believe). They are ofc known but less popular.
@wherearewe-yt17 күн бұрын
Yeah, we've only seen them in two cities so far! They don't seem nearly as common.

We make a lot of videos in the UK as well! It was our second visit, so we loved coming back. It had been 7 years since the last time, so it was a long time coming. Such a nice city!

Please come next time to Lublin, eastern side of Poland, and try "cebularz". And many more estern dishes, this kitchen was diffrent from other polish kitchens.

That sounds great! Rzeszów is the furthest East we've been, and it was only a quick stopover during a train journey to Ukraine. We would love to visit more of the east in the future.

Lard is "smalec" in polish. Probably the same origin as "schmaltz" in german.
@wherearewe-yt17 күн бұрын
Yes, it is! But we liked the Polish version better.

@@wherearewe-yt The best one is always homemade. For example I make mine with onions, prunes and dried apricots. Many people like it with onions and grated apples.
@rafazieba998216 күн бұрын
It is a "vegetarian lard" made from beans. It is an appetizer they serve everybody and you can buy a small set of different flavors to eat while you wait.
@wherearewe-yt15 күн бұрын
I knew it! Haha. This was the first time we had ever been given this as an appetizer. It was really good! And free! 😁

The museum building is amazing. Old town is lovely. So you go to Poland to get a Georgian pastry that is Greek. LOL Those baked pierogi all looked yummy. I'd like the lamb one dipped in garlic sauce. Hello from rainy Oregon US.
@wherearewe-yt15 күн бұрын
We couldn't pass up that Georgian place! It looked too good. Haha. We are currently in Turkey, heading to Georgia next. Excited! The baked pierogi were all so good. It's a nice change from boiled.

When ice is added to the Trojniak mead, it automatically ceases to be a Trojniak. The name comes from how much water was used for its production per amount of honey. So in this case, 2 parts of water and one part of honey. There is also Półtorak, Dwóniak and Czwórniak

Thanks for letting us know! That's quite interesting. At the time, we didn't even know which type we ordered. We just saw it on the menu, and had to try. We'd love to try some other types next time.

The baked variety is a more modern interpretation, resembling a croquette style. Personally, I don't consider this to be a true pierogi. The most traditional version is the mushroom and sauerkraut filling, which is a classic during Christmas time. In the summer, a popular choice is the sweet wild blueberry pierogi, which is a beloved seasonal specialty.

@wherearewe-yt15 күн бұрын
We thought the same thing! That kompot seemed quite expensive. No idea why it costed so much. We recently had some in a milk bar, and it was a fraction of the price. 😬

Guys, "Pierogi Stary Młyn" was good like maybe 10 years ago ;P Now, just in front of them You have "Pierogarnia Rynek 26" - those are totally better, if U wanna eat pierogi close to the center ;P If u wanna go more further into Wrocław, i can share some solid leaks for next trip :P
@wherearewe-yt3 күн бұрын
We were actually debating on going there! We ended up going to Stary Młyn because we went there for the first time 7/8 years ago, and had a good time. It was probably better back then. Hahaha. It'll be a while until we're back in Poland, and even Europe in general (we're currently off to Asia)..but sure, let us know. We will save them for next time! We always save viewer suggestions on our Google Maps for the future. 😁

Boiled are more healthy
@wherearewe-yt17 күн бұрын
As much as we love the baked, I do think boiled are the best. It's much easier to sit down and eat a full portion of them. These baked ones are so heavy and filling.

Najbardziej lubię standardowe pierogi z miesem I skwarkami, gotowane. Nie przekonalam sie do smazonych. Lubię jeszcze uszka do czerwonego barszczu. Jesli chodzi o pieczone pierogi to poprostu nie sa one jakos popularne u nas w kraju. Szczerze - nie umiem powiedziec czemu sie u nas nie przyjely.
@wherearewe-yt17 күн бұрын
We love all pierogi variety! But I do think boiled are probably best. It's much easier to eat more of them because they aren't so heavy. We want to try some with crackling! I don't think we've had any like that yet.
